(11/06/08) These Egyptian Revival Serpent armbands are vintage dead-stock and were never circulated. These are armbands, meant to be worn on the upper arm (like Cleopatra in the movie), not as a bracelet. They measure 3" in diameter. In jewelry design, we see the Egyptian Revival style come into the spotlight around the 1920s, during the time the treasures of King Tut were unearthed. Once again though, in the 1970s when King Tut and his treasures were on tour across the USA, we see it pop up again in jewelry design. These are most likely from the latter of the two.
