(01/27/09) Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend my husband could never keep track of his keys or wallet, even when we had a bowl on the counter expressly for that purpose. i got him the doorganizer for xmas and now when he walks in the door, his keys get clipped up and his wallet goes in the pocket. the pockets are a bit tight, which limits the amount of items that will fit into them (a cell phone and wallet tops), so although it's not perfect, the doorganizer does prevent a lot of last minute rushing around looking for things. Service & Delivery comments: i ordered this last minute and it showed up on xmas eve, even though the scheduled delivery date was after xmas.See less

(12/19/08) Electrons Be Gone! As you travel throughout your day, electrons are shifting all over your body. Sometimes, like when you pull your sweater off or slide out of your car, an excess of electrons attach themselves to your body (you are actually tearing them off of the other substance). When you next touch a piece of positively charged material (your car door, your computer, or perhaps a coworker), the electrons rush from you to the positive charge. The result: a static shock. Static shocks are fun, but only if you are zapping others. They can be painful and also quite destructive; once a static charge fries your laptop, you'll know what we mean. So we offer a very easy way to help painlessly get rid of unwanted electrons. Attach the Static Electricity Eliminator (SEE, for short) to your keyring, and you'll always have it with you. If you think you are "charged," simply hold the SEE and touch the rubber tip to a grounded object (a metal desk leg, your car door, a metal peg leg, etc). You...See less

(12/19/08) Does Schrödinger's Cat Live? Twisted up in Schrödinger's uncertainty thought experiment, this historical kitty has been put through a quantum ringer that nobody should have to experience. After all it's tough work being both alive and dead simultaneously. Every student of physics knows that Schrödinger's 1935 paper regarding a hypothetical paradox involving a cat has perplexed and annoyed physics geeks for years. The basic idea; If the outcome of a circumstance is presently unknown and by observing the circumstance you will disrupt it, then it exists in all possible states simultaneously... Simple! At least to quantum physicists with massive craniums. And hey eventually this principle will seem commonplace, but by then our highways will connect galaxies and shirts like this will be so utterly obvious that they'll likely be dish rags. Don't get it? We propose the following thought experiment:See less

(12/19/08) Fun with solids! So, Johnny was diligently working in the lab trying to generate a little nucleation. But things weren't going so well and he's just not having any luck. Then all of a sudden his lab partner fumbles in, accidently knocking Johnny's beaker of silver nitrate into some potassium chloride which spills all over Johnny. 'Heavens to Betsy!' Johnny gleefully proclaims as a beautiful white solid of silver chloride materializes. And that's why, the legend goes, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. Teal, 100% cotton babydoll with black text and pics on it. Beneath some nifty drawings of labatory equipment reads...'If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate'.See less

(12/19/08) Teach an old fish new tricks Picture it: Lassie returns to the house barking. "What is it girl? Timmy's fallen down the well?" And then everyone runs to get that little fool out. But it's too late. Goldie already saved Timmy's sorry butt. Because Goldie is the goldfish you trained with your R2 Fish Training School Kit - and fish lives in the well! Ok, so that was a little overdramatic, but when you put your fish though Fish School, you'll be amazed by the talent of your little scaly friend. Take a sec and watch the video, we'll wait . . . done? No stunt fish or special effects were used; that was an actual fish trained using this kit. You get everything you need to teach your fish to play football, play soccer, limbo, weave, fetch, go through tubes, and more! And then you can quit your job and go on tour. It'll be just you, Twinkie the fish, and the open road. With the R2 Fish Training School Kit and a little perseverance, the world is your oyster . . . well, goldfish.See less

(12/19/08) One clock to wake them all... In the beginning, there was nothing. And everyone overslept. Then the sun rose and everyone reluctantly got up. And it was good. Then, behold, the Neverlate 7-day Alarm Clock appeared and everyone awoke promptly. And it was gooder. And now, the Executive Neverlate Alarm Clock rises like a phoenix from the ashes of sleep. And it is goodest. Why? Because it has a bajillion alarms, tons of customizable features, and is so loaded, it might be the only alarm clock to come with a "Quick Start Guide." Okay, we could spend ages writing about all the features the Executive Neverlate has to offer, so let's just hit on some big ones. Two separate ("his" & "hers," if you will) 7-day alarm schedules - and each of those 14 alarms can be set to a different time and ringtone (one of 4 buzzers or 20 preset radio stations). Plus another bank of every day alarms. That's 21 alarms in total! And if you get bored of the radio, you can plug in your MP3 player and listen through...See less

(12/19/08) Cute Plant Craves Your Attention Plants would make great pets if they just did more stuff. Hey, they can grow, they can make oxygen, they can die... but that's pretty much it. Nobody names a plant. You can't really hug a plant. However, luckily for you Sega of Japan has re-envisioned the lowly plant as a cute robotic companion. Using futuristic muscle wires for movement, the Sega Pekoppa Robot Plant looks surprisingly lifelike but never needs watering or sunlight... what it craves is your attention. Talk to your Pekoppa plant and it responds to your voice by bending and moving in a very lifelike manner (if real plants could move, which they mostly don't). Ignore it and it gets pretty sad. The more you talk, the happier it is... making it the ideal companion for your wife or girlfriend. Based on the research by Dr. Tomio Watanabe the Pekoppa incorporates "Unazuki riron" (nodding theory.) According to Dr Watanabe, nonverbal communication including nodding and face expression is crucial...See less

(12/19/08) So big, you might think it's bigger on the inside! When the last d20 is rolled, and Tiamat's dying scream shakes the cavern walls, only two things remain: the distribution of experience points to the party, and loot. Your party's dwarf fighter, and that human paladin might be able to lug piles of gold and platinum, but your little gnome mage can't quite heft that much stuff. What to do? The chaotic neutral halfling thief offered to carry a portion of your loot, but do you really trust "Shifty McFingers" with your well-earned booty, or can you find another way to carry it all? Luckily, amidst the ponderous piles of platinum lying about the place is a simple nondescript bag that everyone overlooked - except you, of course. Peering into the bag, you see nothingness - an almost infinite depth in which you can place way more loot than your entire party combined! While the rest of your party is trudging away with a backbreaking mass of booty, you're happily plundering ton after ton of coins,...See less

(12/19/08) Feel the Music in Your Bones If it wasn't for your music-collection, you couldn't make it through the day. You'd probably devolve into a mindless beast who flies into a froth at the mere mention of misfortune, maniacally massacreing your mates. They say music soothes the savage beast, and we believe it does. The problem constant soothing music brings is it can block the outside world. While that sounds like a good thing, we have to remain aware - this is an interactive and dangerous world. At work, your officemates may want to ask you a question. On the street, that honking horn or siren is warning you of imminent disaster. In the field, that high-pitched whistling portends a meteor about to smack you upside the head. It would be ideal if we could listen to our music while still being aware of the world around us. A problem finds a solution: The Vibe Body Sound headphones clip on to your outer ear and conduct vibrations through your skin and cartilage. Those vibrations rumble through...See less

(12/19/08) The Future Is Available Today! OK, so generating electrical power from water might not require quantum math, but it is pretty darn interesting. And it's nice to see science and engineering play nice together to bring folks like you an attractive desktop clock that is powered solely on water (or really any electrolytic fluid like soda, coffee, BAWLS or even Beer). We would be civilized to only call you moronic if you bought this clock and used BAWLS to power it, but in the end you are the music maker, you are the dreamer of dreams and I suppose we would just have to respect that decision. The water clock will display the time and date in clear easy to read numbers just moments after you fill the liquid reservoirs in the back with the liquid of your choice. We've had ours running for weeks so far and the water levels have barely descended and we haven't had to refill it at all. How does it work? Magic mostly. And a little bit of science too. (12/19/08) Save the screeners the trouble of searching your bag Often times, a really cool looking bag draws the attention of the unsavory - those that may want to take that which is tantalizingly hidden within. It's the fact that the contents are invisible that makes the temptation so high! You might have a big wad of cash inside, or a stack of iPhones, a felt satchel of diamonds, or maybe a large gold brick! Then again, maybe all you've got is a pack of gum, a ball of twine, a rubber-band, and a large caliber handgun. Sure, the potential risk is high on a mark like that, but the potential reward could be even higher! We've got a solution - show the world exactly what you're carrying, even if what you're showing is only a reasonable facsimile. The X-Ray tote and shoulder bags, made of a space-age woven plastic fiber, appear to have been bombarded by X-rays, and have magically made your eyes sensitive to their reflection. It appears as though your stuff has gone through the security check at the...See less

(12/19/08) Jam jars store jam, these jars store sunshine! Captured inside the Sun and Moon Jars are a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar. The light is diffused by the frosted jar and give the appearance of sunlight emitting from the sun or a cool moon glow (warm colored LED lights are used to give a more natural and warm light). You may have noticed that there is no switch on the Sun Jar - in fact there are no visible controls at all - but there is a clever light sensor inside that automatically activates the LEDs when it gets dark or the lights are turned out! (There is an override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.) Mason jars are not only beautiful but by their very nature they are water tight - so the...See less

(12/19/08) Un-Stressize in a Snap We're no stranger to stress here at the ThinkGeek office. We toil night and day tortuously sorting through shiny new toys and electronics while we down loads of caffeinated beverages and try to select only the choicest gadget fruits to satisfy your discerning palette. Yep... it's a tough job but we have these handy Stress Relief Pillows to help out. Clutch them to your chest and they vibrate with a special rhythmic heart beat to calm your nerves. We were skeptical at first, but found that they really do de-stress even the jaded amongst us. The amazing thing about My Beating Heart is that every time you turn it on, an entirely unique heartbeat rhythm is created. In fact, every rhythm itself gradually changes and subtly dances, algorithmically modeling the heartbeat in a deep meditative state. This isn't a pre-recorded rhythm and this isn't a "heartbeat sound." This is a physical heartbeat that realistically changes over time. Our hearts naturally begin to dance...See less

(06/29/08) Though James Newton Howard's scores are rarely dominated by piano - like Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules) or some John Williams (Angela's Ashes) - the piano elements and motifs are one of my favorite parts about Howard's work. These cues are usually simple and subtle, often as an undercurrent melody to strings - The Interpreter's "End Credits" - or to a woodwind as in "Eptesicus" from Batman Begins; they may be the foreground or just for sound color like "Goodbyes" and "Maddy & Archer" respectively, from Blood Diamond. In the score to The Lookout, Howard uses a beautiful piano melody that is simple - either a single note at a time or 2-3 note chords - but evocative. It appears on the album only twice, first in "Fantasy" with a light acoustic guitar behind it, then again, slower and solo, at the end in "To Be Forgiven." As a whole, this score is rhythmic and often upbeat. The instrumentation is dominated by acoustic guitar and light percussion, with piano and sparing electronics...See less
