(08/16/09) I've been using this for about a month now. I love the silky texture that silicone primers provide, but wanted something with little to no silicone content so as to not break out my combination skin. And I've only ever heard good things about Shiseido products -- especially their skincare. All I've ever heard is that they're very gentle and nourishing and never make the skin break out. I have combination skin; I get really oily, but I also get dry patches. The consistency of this primer is like that of a creamy lotion. It's fairly thick and not runny like all the other primers I've tried. It has a very light, delicate scent when you smell it, very fresh and clean and not chemicaly, but it is not overpowering or very noticeable when applied. It applies like a facial lotion, but absorbs VERY quickly. I've never experienced it "pilling" or "balling up" on the skin as a few other reviewers have. I bought full size jar w/o trying the sample first since its only $5.50. I have used very little, and liberally, the result is same: cakey makeup that melts off. I even used it as e/s primer, and oil on my lid was coming out like craze, even worse than no e/s primer. I've also bought powder primer, hope that one is better, but for now i don't even want to try other Fyrinnae product =( Learn from EDM Fyrinnae!! I had my makeup done at Shiseido a few weeks ago, and they used this product after the moisturiser, just around my nose, eyes, cheeks, etc (where there are some visible pores, or fine lines). Four hours later, I looked in the mirror, and realised my nose was not nearly as shiny as it normally is, nor were my pores very visible. My face is not very greasy, however, my nose seems to be the exception. At the end of the day, it's always really oily. My makeup also seemed to have a lot more staying power. I decided to wait and see if the product was really as good as it initially seemed to be, or whether I'd just had a lucky non-shiny day. After a few weeks, I can happily report that it really is effective! It's also good just by itself, and leaves your skin feeling very smooth and matte. (08/15/09) I LOOOOOVVVEEE this stuff!!! This is the miracle (in a jar) that I've been looking for!!! I have medium sized pore, fine lines, and oily skin and this stuff takes care of all of that!!! I just wish it was sold in larger quanities (a barrel would be nice lol jk). From what I have read, a jar lasts a very long time for some people. Not for me. I apply it over my entire face so I use more than others do I guess. However, I will not hesitate to pay $20 every 1 or 2 months for this "miracle". I purchased the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting touch today because it has a lot of the same ingredients that the Eraser has. I may or may not like it better. We shall see.See less

I have old acne scars, and some redness in my T-zone, and this really feathers out my features and takes the red out. I use this under the MUF HD foundation, and both products give me a polished dewy look as promised, with mid-coverage I need... [I don't want to mask my face from the world... just accentuate it.] 4.5 in my book... the 0.5 leftover is still in hopes of finding something out there more affordable w/ the same or better quality.See less

The compact form is definitely handy to have. I apply it with fingers rather than sponge, because sponge tends to lay a heavier layer of product and also soaks up product more than I'd like to. This foundation provides better coverage than VA liquid; however, it settles around my nose and fine lines around my eyes, even with light hand. I have to re-smooth it frequently throughout the day. I'd probably use this in cooler months, definitely not when it is hot out when it can crease/settle into lines more.See less
