Currently I am pregnant. Expecting my baby girl in 3 days! I am a great book lover and bibliophil and this has got me thinking about what kind of books I want my daughter to be exposed to and what I will be reading her during mommy, daughter time. Here you will find a few of my selections. I have also included other books for young adults that I plan to purchase for her personal library.

OK, who can say they have read these chronicles and don't find them to be absolutley facinating? I read them for the first time at the young age of about 9 and was completely taken aback by them. It was my first taste of fantasy and I was hooked!

When I lived in Colombia, this was a recommended book read in 7th grade. I recall the book and want to read it to my daughter as well.

I fondly remember "A Wrinkle In Time." What a wonderful book. The author makes you examine space, time and the concept of it while intriguing you and inviting you to enjoy the story line. Excellent books.

I absolutely LOVED these books as a child! You are making a great list for your little butterfly!

OK...I'll be honest. I don't think I read this book as a child, but I do remember wanting to and never actually getting my hands on it. I remember the title and people ranting and raving about it. This will be another book I read to my daughter.

A taste of mystery. Why is it as a young person we get to experience a book so vividly? This mystery was fantastic. I highly recommend it for kids from 9 on and young teens.

I read this book aloud to Emme last year and we both really enjoyed it! I think I will have Jennah read it this summer.

This book was my introduction to Poetry. My mother ordered it for me at my school book fair at the age of 8, and I fell in love with poetry. Some of these poems are still my favorites even now as an adult. They are simple, sweet and fun.

This is one of my all time favorite childhood books. I remember my heart getting broken and the tears I shed and the way my heartbeat sped up as I learned how to love animals. How much they touch our lives and how much respect they deserve. The book taught me great lessons and put me through some poweful emotions and I thank the author for teaching me the love of animals. This will be a book I will be reading to my daughter.

Emme and I listened to this on audiobook last year and she was just riveted! I read this one a few times growing up.
