Jeans are most likely my personal preference, although special occasions should be in a dress - the short dress illustrated seems to add emphasis to the chest, and the higher waist disguises abdominal curve, yet emphasizes hips - which works well unless there are too much hips going on.
Denim, in most cases, is more for casual/informal, whereas the dress can play up from informal as base. Hope this hint helps.
