(10/21/10) These lovely bloomers are done in the Civil War style with modern techniques. Which means that they are "vented" (or otherwise known as completely "open crotched" from front to back) are *very* ample in the rear and tie at the center back waist. They are also mostly sewn by machine with serged seams and rolled hems. Although I did stitch the waistband facing (inside) by hand. If you are wondering why these Bloomers are "vented" and so very roomy in the derrière, part of the reason is that once a lady was loaded down with chemise, corset, pettiskirts, etc there is no possible way for her to remove or pull down her undergarments when nature calls! Besides you're so loaded down with clothing no one should be shining light into the darkness even if you went into a swoon near the top of an unfortunately long flight of stairs and sadly somersaulted your way to the bottom. Though at that point I doubt you'd likely notice or care.See less
