(02/10/11) Big Brother can identify most of the capital letters, but has a harder time with the lower-case. So we decided to make a matching game that incorporated hearts seeing that Valentines Day is only 5 days away. Identifying capital and lower-case letters is not really knowledge that a 3-year old needs to know, but Big Brother is especially interested in letters/words, so we love to practice. I really should spend more time on gross motor activities...that is the area of development that he struggles with the most (which is interesting, especially since he has SO MUCH energy)! Here's what you'll need: Capital letters printed on cardstock and cut in half, red and/or pink construction paper, marker. I had to help Big Brother with several of the lower-case letters, but I was actually really surprised with how well he was able to match the majority himself!See less

(01/25/11) Hello from Canada! I am a homeschooling mom to 3 very rambunctious children ages 11, 7 & 4 years old while holding down the fort as tug boat captain 'Dad' sails the seven seas *grin*. We're located on 40 acres in a tiny rural community in beautiful British Columbia and this is my quirky journal about our homeschool journey, crafting, running my home based business 'RosyUndPosy' making 'Eco Friendly Bags 4 Green Living', and everyday life home on the farm. (01/07/11) These are terrific! The fabric backing on the back makes this “tarp” not slide when you cover your couch or a bed with the tablecloth, but the easy-to-clean vinyl surface means that you can wipe and disinfect with bleach and a paper towel. No more scrubbing the couch! .See less

(12/06/10) Santa Soles are templates that allow you, along with our non-toxic, non-staining "soot" to create Santa's footprints right in your home! Our "soot" is safe for use on all types of flooring and vacuums up easily, making clean up a breeze! How do I use them? * First, you need to decide where you want Santa's footprints to go. * Then take a sole mold and place it on the floor to start the process. * Shake some "soot" into the mold and lift! It's that simple. * Repeat until you have the footprints you would like.See less

(11/02/10) With just a few pieces of felt and some googly eyes we made finger puppets. I sewed the bodies together with the sewing machine and then used pinking shears to embellished the edges. I cut out the shapes (my craft partners were 3). Then my partners glued on the parts. You will find other ideas to celebrate Thanksgiving here.See less

(09/24/10) Thanks for visiting! I have been a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) for about 2 years now, after 10 years in high-tech. Baby James was born 5/7/09, and his little sister is due mid November 2010. My hobbies are a big help in keeping me sane: I love crafts of all shapes and sizes, and am currently in a sewing phase (that is, on those rare occasions when I have energy to pull everything out while the kid is asleep!) Right now, unsurprisingly, this means baby crafts. Later... we'll see! I am also a Christian, and incidentally the self-appointed webmistress for our site Check us out - especially if you're in the Portland Oregon metro area! View my complete profileSee less

(09/23/10) How do I get my kid to eat more lunch at school? She's bringing home 3/4 of what I give her. Never been a big eater, but wow! Frustrating. It so happens that I have a kid with a bird-like appetite, and this is an ongoing issue (I won't say "problem") for us as well. Most of the school lunches I pack for her come home with a few bites gone, but, otherwise, untouched. She's starving after school, and I wonder what her concentration must be like in the afternoon. I've had to accept that her pattern of eating is different than the rest of the family's -- it always has been -- so it's no surprise that she's not gobbling her lunch like majority of her classmates. This year, I'm doing some detailed investigation into what's keeping her from eating at school. Here's what I've come up with so far, with her help (she's in second grade): * She is a slow, deliberate mover and eater, and the school's 20-minute lunch period barely gives her time to open her lunchbox. * Her manual dexterity isn't the...See less

(09/21/10) 1. Wrap your ribbon around the knitting needle and secure each end with a bobby pin. For my bow I used only 2 needles, but you could do more for a fuller bow. Bake at 250 for 20 minutes. Cool 2. After everything has cooled down, slide your ribbon off the knitting needles and cut into chunks. Mine were about 2" but you can make yours bigger or shorter depending on the bow shape you're going for. Seal the ends with clear nail polish or a lighter to prevent fraying.See less
