We personally have never been to a polder in the Netherlands, so we can’t vouch for how accurately it captures one, but it makes us go a bit dreamy eyed remembering childhood visits to an aunt’s farm in the Midwest. This does indeed smell like the countryside. Clean and pristine countryside, in springtime, with cows a couple of pastures over and an emerald carpet of new grass under your feet. While there are no floral notes listed, we still get a sweet undercurrent that reminds us of wildflowers blooming in a meadow. Any hint of cloves in anything aside from a pomander, usually makes me a little ill, but there is just a suggestion of it here, to warm the fragrance, and the chocolate here is as it should be: more bittersweet than candy-sweet. Like a rich, dark, mole&884;, or a delectable chutney astride a spicy curry dish, this is a delicious fragrance, with more aroma than just scent. Your palette will be pleased with the edible notes, and you will fall in love with the quietly musky, ambered floral. Gorgeous. See less
