No, not that kind of pot … but not that type of photo either for that matter. The classic instant-print photograph we all know and love combined with an unconventional approach to the classic hanging potted plant – two familiar household concepts combined by designer Jung Hwajin in a new way. The resulting ‘photo pot’ and living, breathing and growing plant within it are more than simple home decor or the sum of their parts. Unlike the immediate 2D photographic images we are used to or the typical 3D rounded pot design, this idea synthesizes the second, third and fourth dimension of time together in one productS ee it straight on and it could be a still, unmoving image suspended in a frame. Viewed from the side or while spinning slowly around and it become three-dimensional. Finally, of course, it also changes as it grows from a simple seed into a full-fledged plant over the days, weeks and months after it is hung. See less

He had this amazing modular hamster cage that allowed him to go all over the place for fun and entertainment. Now Octopus Studios, a furniture and aquarium design firm is offering up similar type of modular designs, but for fish with the Silverfish Aquarium. The entire kit is custom build to order by Octopus Studios. It comes with extensive instructions for installation, or you can pay even more to get Octopus Studios to install it for you. The fish tank is designed for fresh-water fish and would make a great training gym for beta fish. Train fish in each individual module and then let them go at it in a center ring. Imagine using half as much space for a doorway yet being able to open it in both directions – and all on smooth invisible track with concealed inset hinges that doors seem to float on air. This brilliant door hinge system is so simple and useful it seems uncanny that similar home hardware not used in every house in the world. Push or pull and the Ergon door will spring to the side as it moves in or out, ending up flush and perpendicular with the adjacent door frame. From the offset paths it traces as seen from above it is impressive how much space is saved either way. Tobias Franzel has used the classic versatile European-style window hinge (that opens sideways all the way and folds down to let in drafts) and applied it to a new, interactive, double-hinged home door design. Of course, you have to have enough space on either side of the door for the double-hinged system to work and to make room for a game. Nonetheless, if you skipped the classic forest green of a typical ping-pong table you could probably make this blend in quite well with the rest of your home. New to Dornob?
