(11/21/07) Wow! I've been using a cheap flat iron for a couple of years now. It took me a long time to straighten my hair each day. I only recently looked into getting the "real ceramic" flat irons after reading reviews on the top rated ones. Chi was hands down rated higher than the others, so I bit the bullet and puchased mine through Amazon. What a difference it's made to use the higher quality iron. It's cut my styling time in half and the ease and smoothness of this iron is incredible. Yes, it gets hot (very hot) with no temperature control, but if you use the proper hair protectant products that are available prior to ironing, you'll be just fine. Great purchase and well worth the extra $$. Comment | Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)See less

Abrams' Alias proceeded to reinvent itself yet again--and the results looked quite a bit like the first season, but with a decided twist. Well, yes, he was, but having been "rehabilitated" from his evil ways, he's now Sydney's new boss--nevermind the fact that he's trampled all over her life in more ways than one--and head of the CIA's new super-secret division, APO (for Authorized Personnel Only), which also includes all of Sydney's old friends, as well as her dad (Victor Garber) and love interest Vaughn (Michael Vartan). But as Sydney and Vaughn struggle with their budding relationship in the wake of his wife's death, and Syd also comes to realize her father may have had...See less

(11/17/07) Greg Iles lives up to the promise of his previous bestseller, 24 Hours, with a new thriller that showcases his ability to deliver top-level suspense as well as multidimensional characterization. When Jordan Glass, a world-renowned photojournalist, happens on an exhibit of a series of paintings known as "The Sleeping Women," she is stunned to discover that one of the models--a nude who, like the other women in the paintings, looks dead rather than asleep--is her mirror image. But Jordan knows the face in the painting isn't her; it's her twin sister, Jane, who disappeared from her New Orleans home more than a year ago, and is presumed to have been murdered by a serial killer who's been snatching women off the streets of the Crescent City for at least that long. None of the bodies of the missing women have turned up, but their faces match the models in the other Sleeping Women paintings. A veteran FBI agent named John Kaiser brings Jordan into the Bureau's hunt for the...See less

(11/17/07) Is less really more? At long last, designers, artists, and architects have rediscovered theevocative effect of patterns, and are paying homage to décors once rejected as superfluous,by covering lamps, chairs, or entire rooms with stripes, polka dots or camouflage designs. Many such as the Rotterdam based designer Jurgen Bey are interpreting traditionalmotives anew. This book presents for the first time various multidisciplinary approachesto patterns, showing the many functions décors can fulfil. Using examples of contemporarywork by internationally renowned designers such as Tord Boontje, Michael Lin, Olaf Nicolai and Sauerbruch & Hutton, the diversity of colours, shapes and applications are laid out before the reader, illustrating the impact and influence of technical innovations such as laser engraving and digital milling on patterns and our perception of them.See less
