(07/06/11) RedStart Design, a modern, sculptural jewelry design firm in San Francisco has teamed up with Markus Diebel, industrial designer and VP of Design at Incase, to offer Manymals, a new line of jewelry comprised of four hanging animals. Currently, the Manymal collection features a gorilla, a sloth, a bat and a pug. Diebel hand sculpted each form in clay with incredible attention to detail. The sculptures were then digitized and reduced in size for molding and RedStart created the pendant sized forms. The Manymals are playful, each hangs naturally from a chain. The Manymals are adorable, each animal distilled to its most telling characteristics. Diebel sees the Manymals as a poetic and metaphorical approach to jewelry stating “each represents a character with which you might identify,” Says Diebel “they are endangered animals, except the pug, and I would like to raise awareness and empathy by wearing them.” Finally, the Manymals are generous, 5% of sales will be donated to the World...See less
