(09/30/06) 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: one for the hardcore ninjageeks, 28 Oct 2005 Reviewer: A music fan The actual movie of the live jam sounds dreadful - really weak and ropey live recording that sounds like a total afterthought, it sounds like it was recorded straight to stereo from the PA system. I'm sure it sounded great in the hall, but the recording is lame, apart from the last few minutes where the infectious vibe of the music finally overcomes the limitations of the recording. If you approach it as an academic study in the roots of hiphop it may have some merit, but otherwise there's precious little to recommend most of it. It's dull and uninspiring. The video extras are a bit more interesting. The remix CD is the best thing in the package - some really good stuff on there, good ninjatune funk vibe and some of it is even quite original. At the price, it's possibly worth buying for this alone if you like your ninjatunes. Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)See less

(09/30/06) 3 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Good fun - not earth-shattering though, 5 Nov 2003 Reviewer: A viewer The various extras are the best part of this dvd - the interviews, short documentaries and live performances are all suitably sweet and eccentric. The promo videos themselves are probably the weak link. Let's face it - if someone was to compile a list of the 200 greatest music videos ever made, I'm pretty sure that no B&S promo clips would turn up on it. THe videos are nice enough, but nothing special. Also, the tracks that B&S have released as singles/videos aren't necessarily their most memorable. So I found my interest wane during some of the videos, and during the really bizarre and entertaining live performances I sometimes found myself wishing that they'd released a live DVD instead (Maybe next time). So I guess the title sums it up pretty nicely - "Fans only". But then I'm a fan (sort of), and they seem like such sweet people, so I still cant bring myself to...See less

(09/24/06) 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Genius!, 26 May 2004 Reviewer: A viewer Just watched this today and all I can say is that it's probably the most exciting dvd I've ever seen. This man has a fantastic knack of simply matching images to music. No other director exhibits such a real feel for the music - every video here totally matches the artist and the song. So many clever touches - you really have to watch some of these videos several times to 'get' all the ideas he puts into his work. In short, there is no other video director who is quite so innovative, creative, artistic and just plain damn brilliant as Michel Gondry. Buy! With 4 hours plus of footage you really can't go wrong with this. I'm thinking of buying a copy for all my friends as early Christmas presents! Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)See less
