(11/08/10) If things had gone differently, I could be in the desert peering into a telescope and plotting the galaxy's day to day activity. While I'm happy with my current job, from time to time I consider the route I could have taken, had I focused on astronomy instead of writing. Perhaps I drifted off the astronomer route when I wrote a book about space when I was in fourth grade. In what could be considered creative nonfiction, I explored each of the nine planets (because Pluto was considered a planet then) on my rocket, dubbed the 'AKB,' after my initials. As soon as I opened this umbrella, I thought of the 'AKB' and my love of all things in the cosmos. Underneath the cosmic blue sheen of this umbrella's outer layer is a depiction of our sun, the (now) eight planets, the asteroid belt, a lone comet, and faint stoic stars in the distance.
