Jean Nouvel, French architect of the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and the Agbar Tower in Barcelona, Spain, has won the emmy of Architecture. The Pritzker Prize often compared to the Nobel Prize, is awarded to a living architect of note. As Slate.com put it, the award differs from the Nobel Prize which is awarded to individuals of striking talent, dedication and innovation in a particular area; the Pritzker is awarded to an individual when architecture is a process of teamwork. A remarkable philosophy of Nouvel’s when designing buildings, is that “The wind, the color of the sky, the trees around — the building is not done only to be the most beautiful,” he said. “It’s done to give advantage to the surroundings.
