Tjasa Owen and David Ivan Clark approach seascapes and landscapes in a way that is somehow meditative in nature. While each artist has their own particular approach to paint application and medium, both share a common result in feeling. Tjasa Owen incorporates the memory of a childhood spent on the Atlantic Coast with her travels abroad to France. As she states, “Rather than documenting any actual place, I am more interested in reassembling the elements of scenes I remember.” She employs acrylic, oil pastel as well as collage media in her canvases. David Ivan Clark says of his work, “To the extent these paintings are subject to exegesis, they may be said to explore the interaction between man and his ideas of nature and industry. ” His paintings are a fine layer of oil on stainless steel.
