Where do I even begin? Every time I see it I get the creeps. Something about it just irks me. Basically what I want to know is...WHAT ARE THESE GIRLS (and apparently this guido guy) THINKING?
Get some real eyebrows please! I mean I know plucking your eyebrows can be a hassle. Yeah, it hurts. But isn't having a some what normal facial expression worth it?!
1. Eyebrows do not look like solid black or brown lines
2. Plucking your eyebrows takes about a minute a week, drawing them on properly everyday (and possibly multiple times a day) most likely takes about an hour a week
3. What do you do in public when humidity or rain causes your brows to drip down your face? Do your entire face of makeup all over again?
4. What makes someone thinks this looks right?!
I'm not usually one to judge someone by their appearance. But I can not bring myself to be friends with someone that draws on their eyebrows....it bugs me that much.
I know I'm not the only one that can't stand this.

This post made me laugh. I've never understood why girls do this, especially since half the time they draw them on just as thick as their natural brows. I would never be able to do this, I have too many days where I just dont feel like wearing makeup-- I couldn't imagine leaving the house with no eyebrows! haha
I couldn't imagine HAVING to do my eyebrows every day, either. I've seen it look okay in one or two situations.
ewww I agree...absolutely hideous...ha ha I have the opposite problem mine need waxing bad!
i agree! it looks soooo bad. how the hell do they even avoid smudging them? it must be a hilarious sight when they wash their makeup off too. what's next? shaving your head bald and drawing on hair?
u r totally right i hate when people do that and u know it hurts
i couldn't agree more! i don't even shape my eyebrows, i just pluck out the little stray hairs that don't really fit in with the others, and it still looks nice.
but in reply to brittknee, there is a waiter at my local pizza place who has a huge bald spot, and it looks like he draws on "hair" with a sharpie every day.
I agree very much, it is annoying! I do fill in my own eyebrows though since they are so light for some reason but that is a totally different thing.
You said it!
hahahaha....drawing on hair....it really is the same thing!
Great blog and pure honesty on your part! I do know people who do not have any eyebrows so they have to draw them on! Personally I do not mind what people look like!
I hate it! Make it stop! I don't understand it at all.
you're so funny! i always think about the whole "rain" issue. and the guy is hilarious! no thanks. no thanks.
Tell me how you really feel about drawn-in brows. HAHAHA. Great post! Love the "guido" guy. Sadly, I once dated a guy who penciled in his eyebrows for about a month...and that was because he regretfully bleached his brows to match his frosted tips (yeah...yikes).
Do you really think me filling in my eyebrows is the same? That is pretty rude. I just do it because I am natural brunette with very light brown eyebrows. I really like 60's looks so I have always done my eyebrows sort of like that.
No, Im talking about shaving them completely off just to draw them back on. Filling them in is wayyyyy different and usually looks good.
I think she was referring to the "shaving your head bald and drawing on hair?" comment from Brittknee, Gabba_a not you filling in your eyebrows! I do the same thing. I have really thick eyebrows and I grow them out a lot so that I can reshape them but I also use a pencil to fill them in or change the shape a little to match my look for the evening. I think it's perfectly normal. I'm sure it happens all over but I know in St. Louis we get a lot of girls drawing these HUGE weird eyebrows in with like a single line of black eyeliner. I've seen girls do it here where you can tell EXACTLY where their normal eyebrow should be and they will have like little stubble where its coming back in but they'll have one tiny line of black arching all the way up onto their foreheads. Ugh. It's awful looking.
Oh I am sorry about that! hah.
I once knew a girl that would shave her eyebrows, it was horrible they would come back all stubbly and gross and she would cover that stubble with red liner.
About 7 years ago, i moved into an apartment with new appliances. The oven themostat wasn't adjusted properly and my eyebrows were singed off when the oven had a heat flash. For some reason, they never grew back. I've tried everything...doctors, medicines, creams, etc....but now I am one of those wierdos who have to "draw" their eyebrows on everyday. I have experimented with many different pencils and kits ....and i try to make them look chic and not freaky.
So,.. to answer the questions in the original post for all you inquiring minds:
1. No ..eyebrows arent solid black or brown lines, but... it is called an eyebrow pencil (pencils draw lines). Thats why I also use a kit with a brush.
2. It does not take an hour a week to "put on" my eyebrows. It took some practice at first. Remember, this is something I do every single day. After a while, it just becomes part of the morning routine. You get good at it. Now, it only takes a minute or two.
3. My eyebrows do NOT drip down my face when it is humid or rainy. A lot of pencils are water resistant....think about mascara and other makeup....same principle.
4. What makes me think this looks right?? I don't, ...but it's the best I can do with what I've got. I try to make them look as pretty as I can.
Since some of you won't be friends with someone who draws on their eyebrows, I think I will change my picture. I joined this site to make friends, not scare them away. You all really need to be more open about things you don't understand....being judgemental and mean is a lot uglier than drawn-on eyebrows!!
lets get things straight...Im talking about people that do this NOT out of necessity. Like the pictures I posted. There is a difference. Living with alopecia, not having hair, or accidents, filling in eyebrows....these are all different situations.
woman us to do this in my grand-mothers era....they all regretted it because when you get older the hair stops growing back!
Yeah I know people that do it because they have to but it doesn't look bad at all. It's the girls that draw lines up to their hair line that look like goofs.
The whole eyebrow drawn on thing doesn't really irk me, but I personally do not find it appealing. However, I do think that people look great with groomed eyebrows that have been properly plucked, trimmed and lightly filled in with brow powder (Megan Foxe's eyebrows are a good example of what I'm talking about.) I have a friend who drawns on her eyebrows and to be honest, she is one of the sweetest people I know. She just likes to put on and wear a lot of makeup for whatever reason. It's not fair to completely blow people off just because of the way their eyebrows look, however I do understand how it could be a pet peeve of yours.
I hear you! What about people that actually tattoo them on??
I fill my brows in with powder. After YEARS of plucking the Brooke Shields brows I had as a kid are about 1/4 as thick now. If I could go back I would have NEVER plucked to begin with!! I wish my Mom had told me not to!
Anyway, it's taken me years of experimenting with powders and pencils and such to get it just right. Having said this, I am very picky about brows and bad brows are a major peeve of mine. There's a lady on The Amazing Race this season, whose brows I just can't stand. She looks like a Jack-o-lantern and I find myself compelled to comment on her semi-circle brows every episode. A great friend of mine draws hers on, but uses a shade that's just too dark for her. My gentle suggestions haven't been picked up on, so I leave it alone because I know she likes them and it's her face anyway. I guess when I see bad brows I just imagine the person is still experimenting and just hasn't figured out the best look for themselves.
If you are totally browless, check these out http://www.beauti-full-brows.com/
Pretty interesting. I guess the trick is to get them on straight and have no peach fuzz underneath.
I sort of have that problem, but by default!! I hate the fact that I've tweezed 2 often and left myself with missing "tails". I resort to using shadow and brow brush then set with hairspray, and they still wear away- I hate it!! Why oh why people do this on purpose is still a mystery. Although, I can remember analyzing Pam Anderson's makeup years ago, and noticed that's what she does. Maybe she started the whole thing trying 2 duplicate Barbie's look!! What do u think??
Pam is soooooo Barbie!
Oh gosh...totally and 100% agree with you. What is up with them?! It would be QUITE hilarious and deserving if their eyebrows ran from the rain though don't you think?
So funny! But so true. You're not the only one.
I really like pinkdaizy's post. I was thinking about people with her situation while I was reading this blog and the following comments. I saw a woman with a hair condition (extreme hair loss) on a talk-show once, and she had tried several medical treatments with no success. After that, I was much more sympathetic to people with different "looks." You just never know.
I am not sure what's attractive about looking constantly surprised like these people pictured above. I guess its a fashion statement all in its own. But I do think it would be hard to take any of those people seriously or to not stare at their eyebrows the entire time lol. To each their own style, but I'll pass! I had an at home eyebrow wax incident once where I took off the middle one eyebrow and had to pencil in the bald spot! Thank goodness I didn't decide to wax both completely off and draw them in since now I can see what that would have looked like.
I agree.
I so disagree . Maybe thats the way they feel comfortable. Seriousl, who are you to judge how they want to look.
This post makes me happy.
I completely agree. It's creepy and seriously unattractive.
(Hmm. No.. that implies it doesn't attract... I need a stronger word, t
hat implies that it repels... Repulsive? Repugnant? Abhorrent? Cringe-worthy?)
