Summer Wedding Scent Suggestions?

Mar 12, 2009 in Beauty
So, another random wedding venture of mine is trying to find a nice perfume to wear that day. I could always just wear something I already have...but I kinda want to pick something special out for the big day!

I haven't looked around in the stores much yet, but I thought I'd post something on here and maybe get some suggestions?

Obviously since it'll be H-O-T-T hot (July in the South, 'nuff said), I want something light enough to not overpower everyone...butttt don't want the scent to be so faint that you can't even smell it.

Thoughts?

I'd go with Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. Its a light floral, but not so floral it would compete with your flowers. I get tons of complements on it and its also not too sweet.

There are so many perfumes to choose from and i can't decide, here is a website i found that may help:

Acqua di Gio by Armani or Un Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermes. They're both very green, which I like, though I suppose others may not. :)

I love the suggestions already - Acqua di Gio & SJP's Lovely are both amazing. If you want something airy and fresh, I'd reccomend Pure Grace by Philosophy which smells very clean.

Well, I like Aspen.....but I think it's probably just because I like the place. AND......

WHEN IS THIS WEDDING????????

Hey Paws, I left a msg on your shoutbox earlier tonight with the date lol

Ralph or Ralph Cool by Ralph Lauren are both great subtle (non-floral) not too strong scents.

AdG is a great suggestion - yum! And Pure Grace too! I guess my favorite summer scent for the last several years has been Beth Terry's Te: "Green Tea is blended with Grapefruit, Bergamot, Celery, Clove and Ylang Ylang. Fresh and Long Lasting!" Basically anything w/ grapefruit or green tea is gonna be a fave for me. :) I also like Kiehl's Grapefruit Dry Oil b/c it's pretty light & fresh w/o being too sweet, & Issey Miyake is pretty great too - it all just depends on what you're going for... fruity, floral, very clean, etc.? Sephora has a section on summer scents & just a fragrance selector in general, I'd play around there to see if anything sounds good. ;) These are just my thoughts... have fun choosing!

I can't think of anything... But it's a great idea to think about it!

ElizabethW's Magnolia Parfum is my new summer fragrance crush, and with "saffron and sandalwood mingled with Riviera mimosa and gardenia," I would say it's perfect for a wedding! (It's reasonably priced, too.)

That sounds great Jen, I just added it to my scented list.
I would reccomend The One by Dolce & Gabbana, because how fitting is that for your wedding!? I have it and love it, it's exotic & sensual smelling (though it might be a bit much).
I have also wanted to get wish by LoLLIA. Here are the key ingredients: A Burst of Italian Bergamot, notes of Cinnamon and Pepper, Rice Flower, Jasmine and Ylang Ylang, sheer Amber Woods and Vanilla Bean.
Why not take a few girlfriends to Macy's or Nordstrom and try some out?

I'm no perfume buff so I'm useless to help, but I did want to say that your photo of choice for this post rocks my socks :)

I'm not much for those designer scents... I can't stand them, my nose is so sensitive to smell, everything is strong.
Scents I can stand though, Bath and Body works. Since it will be July, B&BW should have Night Blooming Jasmine, I like it. It smells "innocent". :D

so nice

I have 3 favourite perfumes, one is Rare Pearls from Avon, one is Elizabeth Taylors White Diamonds and the other is NOA.
I find I have problems with the perfume staying on my skin, so I put it on my clothes and hair, it lasts longer!!
Whatever you choose I am sure you will smell heavenly!!

f you want something light and nice I like, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, or
L'Eau d'Issey , or, Bvlgari Eau Parfumee Green Tea. The Green Tea is my favorite, it is a and not too heavy. One thing to try would be the Sephora fragance finder, and/or look at their list of summer scents.

CK One or Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

I would also recommend the D&G Light Blue or maybe Clinique Happy - something clean or citrusy. I also like any bath/body product in grapefruit - it's so fresh and pretty and not overpowering in the heat, though it's one of those smells you either love or hate. I also like B&B Works Freshwater Cucumber; it's very clean and most people can't put their finger on the scent - they just really like it! I think Philosphy Falling In Love, Miss Dior Cherie, and Michael Kors (original) are all pretty without being too strong.

I'll go with anything grapefruity too. I love it, both to eat and wear. :) I'm not big on all the designer names though (I need my money more than they do), I buy what I like the smell of, I don't care whose name is on it so I'm of no help there. :(

I'm horrible when it comes to perfumes. I have allergies, so I find the ones I can smell without dying. Personally, I like citrusy scents. Clinique Happy is a favorite and usually runs around $45. The body shop carries perfume oils in a bunch of scents. You don't need to put on a lot to get a good amount of scent. Plus they aren't super expensive. Other than that, I don't really have any other ideas.

I subscribe to the believe that perfume / cologne should be like an undergarment: you should have to be intimately close to someone for them to know what you're wearing.

I'd also recommend wearing something you usually do. Of my past flames that wore a particular scent, I still think of them when I catch but a glancing whiff of it on the wind. It's a subtle but powerful way to remind your guy that he's marrying you.

a brand of perfumes that i really love is Demeter
they have a VERY wide variety of scents (ranging from angel food cake to library to cocktails to grass), but i love to buy a couple and mix them. that way, your scent seems really personal and YOU rather than something generic that everyone wears.

another option is to truly make your own perfume. there are plenty of stores around that allow you to make your own perfume for about the same amount as you would buy one in a store. OR (another thing i do) is mix essential oils (you can get them from any health food store or amazon.com), some base oil (like sweet almond or even olive oil) and distilled water in a bottle. you'll end up spending half the money for a scent that is super personal!

Hiris by Hermes is my favorite

I like 212 by Carolina Herrera, Romance by Ralph Lauren, and Vera Wang (I wore this to my wedding). I love some of the other scents above too (especially, Clinique Happy). Whatever you decide, have fun and I'm sure your soon to be hubby will love your scent no matter what you wear.

i would try something simple... my fav sents r from bath & body works b/c theyre simple & dont cost an arm and a leg... my favorite for the summer is pineapple but they usually come up with some others!!! ; P

Kristy, I've posted a link to the elizabeth arden site with my FAVE perfume. Green tea. it's light and perfect for summer. Here's a description I found about it :

Top notes are rhubarb, mint, orange peel, bergamot, and lemon; middle notes are carnation, musk, jasmine, oak moss, and white amber; base notes are caraway, amber, musk, green tea, jasmine, cloves, oak moss, and celery seeds. Green Tea perfume is an elevating fragrance that energizes the body, excites the senses, and revives the spirit.

I love it, give it a sniff and decide for yourself.

Wow, there are some great suggestions here. I cant offer much help, other than to hit up a luxury department store and check out the goods. My personal favorite is Thierry Mugler's Angel. My fiance comments on the scent being "sexy" and I get comments from strangers all the time when I wear it. I also like Egyptian Goddess oil. It smells so natural and lasts all day long, and its pretty cheap.

hmmm..i personally like fruity smells but sometimes not other ppls taste you know? well i also really like the smell of Philosophy Amazing Grace it smells good! and you can get it on a roll on,small bottle, big bottle and it comes in all these sorts of things like shower gel, shampoo and stuff! so maybe check out philosophy!

I like anything w/ white tea, white musk or amber notes. I find them ultra feminine, alluring, and just yummy! Lavender can help u feel more relaxed too if you think your nerves will get the best of you!

Elle by YSL is amazingggggggggggg

Ralph Lauren Romance. The name says it all!

try stella Mcartney...

You may try Issey Miyaki, light and it stays for longer hours. I even wear it while I'm grinding warcraft gold on WoW. LOL

I recommend the D&G Light Blue, J'Dore, and I also like Love Spell and Pear Glace from Victoria Secret.

I really love florals: Tocca Touch, Nanette Lepore, Vera Wang...

Try Flower By Cynthia Rowley-fresh light scent!
