*The $60 Camera?*

For 5 seconds, I screamed.
One day while Googling "The" Ashton Kutcher, I clicked on the link to that new camera he's sponsoring....the Nikon Coolpix S60. But somehow, my eyes convinced me to see this...

Then i screamed for 5 seconds
I don't think I have ever had that much adrenalin before in my life. And in those 5 seconds, as I waited for the page to load, I thought about everything that was good in the world, and about the fun I was about to experience with my new 60 dollar camera, and how much we needed each other, since i love photography.
...and in those 5 seconds, i was only leading myself into disappointment, because the damn thing actually cost a total of 300 freakin dollars! The *S60* part was actually its Model name, whatever the hell thats supposed to mean. Why couldn't they just have left it at ...Coolpix. I never had a nikon camera before, so i had no idea they cost that much. Kodak was my best friend.
But, i dunno maybe i should start eating more carrots, cause i could of sworn my eyes told me $60. Got me all excited for nothing, what a perfect jedi mind trick
but oh well, all the reviews on bestbuy.com says it has poor or bad quality or something.
Does anyone own one of these???

ahh o mi I would scream too, but they do take great quality pics. I don't own one, I own a Sanyo that was $95. It doesn't have as much zoom but it is perfect for me
I would never pay $300 for a point and shoot, but that is just me. For only a bit more you could get a DSLR. I am not a huge fan of Nikon either though, I am a Canon girl.
I like nikon coz it a good camera and it's cheaper than a Canon. But I love my Canon camera coz I have dropped it, took it to te beach (A big no no for DSL's), I literally threw it up agains a wal (not hard) just to say that I did. And It's fine. A few scratches here and there but still fuly funciontal. My friend has a lower version of the S60 and she has a hard time with it coz the pictures are too dark, even with the flash on. Get a Nikon DSLR though, different story. Absolutely gorgeous pics.
I used to fix cameras, and I only had to fix a nikon about twice or 3 times. And it's not big fixes. For Canon, I only had one brought in and it was unfixable... coz she ran over it with her car. :D
For about $500 you can get a decent Nikon DSLR, get a Nikon D40 or D40x... Good cameras.
Funny story! Dunno about the camera though.
I saw these camera's in a Sunday paper advertisement and my jaw dropped at the prices. I'd love to have one but like you said I'm a Kodak girl. We have a Sony Digital camera right now but we always have to charge the battery and I have a heck of a time with the flash. I liked the jedi mind trick remark. Too funny!
That exact same thing happened to me! I thought it was a typo though because I know Nikon would never have a camera for $60. I felt like such a dumb ass afterward!
When I first started readng I was all excited because I'm looking for a new digital camera ( mines is broken :( ) and i thought it was only $60 but then as I kept reading I said hell no! For $300 I could buy so many clothes and I may even throw in a pair of Nike blazers!!! I think I'll just stick with my plan and buy that $114 Sony camera I saw!! :) ;)

I bought a Nikon Coolpix SQ for $199 a few years ago and really do love it. It's lasted us for about 5 years and we haven't had any problems with it other than having to buy a new battery last summer (which I had to go to a specialty battery store because they don't make the SQ anymore). Not horrible or overpriced ($26.00) for the battery, so I can't really complain considering it was the first one we had to buy since we got the camera.
I also have a canon which I really like a lot. Not digital, but sometimes it's nice to have regular pictures too.
WOW!was it really $60 4 this cool camera and I would want this in PINK
I tried this camera out in the store and picture quality was terrible.
The other Nikons at the store were good though, they just need to work on the touch screen image quality.
