Can we curl it?

Sep 9, 2009 in Beauty
Maybe "Can we wave it?" would be more appropriate, but either way, I still need advice!

So I took this picture on my cellphone, and since my camera phone turns pretty much every picture orange, I did some Picnik.com magic to make it more presentable. About two weeks ago I had a dream that I had bangs and shoulder length wavy hair. This of course inspired me to go get my hair cut immediately.

I got the bangs I wanted, but the girl cut a lot more of the length off than I wanted. My hair lightens in the sun really, really quickly. It makes it look as if I dyed my hair and then let it grow out, but I haven't dyed my hair in over a year. The girl cutting my hair kept trying to cut all the lightened part off, and took off over an inch more than I wanted. Since I'm trying to grow it out, this was a bit annoying.

Anyways, the point of this post is, as my hair gets longer I want it to be consistently wavy. On it's own, it kind of just gets wavy as it pleases, and flattens out on the top from the weight. How do I make it behave? I have a diffuser, but I'm not sure what products to use. See how flat it is! I need help!

Thanks!

I think you can probably wave it. Mine waves naturally if I let it dry wet but if you use a curling iron that might help. I just started using Garnier Fructis Style Curl Shaping Spray Gel, Strong on my hair to make the waves last and it has been working really well. I have also been using Garnier Fructis Style Brilliantine Shine Glistening Drops on my hair when it's wet and that has been helping keep it's natural wave while it air drys.

My friend has this product, which I don't have the link for right now, and it sucks your hair into this tube and dries it and curls it simultaneously. I know that sounds dangerous, but my friend claims it really isn't. It makes her hair have very regular large wave/curls. With this, I would experiment with mousse and some flexible hold hairspray afterwards.
Otherwise I would recommend the "controlled air dry" which involves mousse, coaxing your hair into position (bobby pins, clips, chopsticks...) and then letting it air dry. It is also the best method I have for avoiding frizz and maintaining my laziness.

One of my BFF's uses Herbal Essances Tousle Me Softly. She has a slight wave in her hair so this stuff makes it wicked wavy. She uses the shampoo and conditioner and lets it air dry. I'm sure if you used a hair dryer it would work too. GOOD LUCK!!!

Their advice sounds good to me. I have always had very thick, wavy, curly hair...so I have only ever experience the opposite problem....getting it to look like I wasn't just out sailing for hours. When I cut my hair, I keep cutting it until all the curly parts are gone. It takes lots of cutting. LOL.... Hope you will have a pic to show after you wave and curl it. You could also try a relaxed perm. But I would have it done professionally, that way it really does look nice and you don't have to worry about getting it wavy or curly every day.

Have you tried teasing your hair a little? I don't mean tease it to the point that its really, really poofy. My brother's girlfriend teases her hair around the scalp, just a little so it won't be so flat. Maybe you should check with a beautician to see how waves would do in your hair!

I suggest the "waves of envy" products from sunsilk.

There is a sea spray for beach like waves and a gel cream for more of a smooth wavy look. These products are amazing!
