Drop-crotch Trousers

Oct 17, 2008 in Style and Fashion
Hailed by some fashion bloggers as the next big thing.....will this trend ever make it into the mainstream?  I believe it's been out for awhile now--I think it was first popularized during last year's fashion week. Reportedly this new pant shape will be making its appearance in H&M stores on November 13th as a part of the COMMES des GARCONS for H&M collection.

I personally hope that this never makes it past H&M, because I find these pants so unbelievably hideous!  Call me conventional, but I don't think it even looks good on the runway.  It looks like you took a dump in your pants...I think that the only reason why it's become anything worth mentioning is because it's so different.  Otherwise, I don't think this new shape really has anything to offer aesthetically besides its uniqueness.

What do you guys think?

I don't see them ever taking on mainstream appeal, either. Editorially, they're interesting because they're a break away from the long, lean line we've been seeing in pants and I think that's why designers are so interested in them. It's something that isn't stale and they can let it simmer and see what kind of new, positive direction it can end up taking them in.

I personaly could never pull off those pants, but I do admire people who take risks and expirement with non mainstream shapes. I generally just enjoy seeing people who dress uniquely, reguardless of their take on how they do it. It makes the world a bit more interesting. :)

It's funny how things come back full circle. Those are just MC Hammer pants from waaaay back in the 80's. Google him..you'll see what I'm talkin' about. Hideous then and now!

I agree-totally ugly. I could NEVER imagine anyone wearing these on the street!

I'm starting to see them in more and more stores! D:

I tried a pair for the first time at H&M the other day...definitely not for me! I think you need to be model height to pull this look off and not look like a cartoon pirate. My biggest wardrobe peeve: sagging crotch (I'm always hiking up my jeans)...no drop-crotch for me, at least not by choice.
