Tory Burch: Yay or Nay?

13 ›
Jan 16, 2011 in Fashion
Hi everyone!!

I just got my first professional job! I am working on transitioning my wardrobe from college into the working world. I need a really good pair of ballet flats to wear to the office.

I tried on the Tory Burch Reva flats in leather (I’m wearing the yellow ones in the picture). But I would get black if I bought them. They seem very comfortable except they seem a bit stiff around the side of my foot. The lady at Neiman Marcus told me that when I wear them they will give and become soft. So my questions are:

1)   Does anyone own these shoes?

2)   Are they as comfortable as everyone says? Does the leather eventually give?

3)   Are they worth the price tag? Do they hold up/are they good quality?

Any other recommendations for comfortable/professional looking flats?

Thanks for the advice!

  • Love Tory Burch... I think these would be a worthwhile investment BUT I would also think about whether they will go with EVERYTHING considering they have that gold medallion, you know? Personally, I am particular about such things and would prefer a plain pair of flats to pair with more. I don't own these but I bet they would soften up nicely if they're 100% leather. (Just googled - they're leather, yep.) I bought a pair of Kenneth Cole leather flats from a thrift store a long time ago... they were perfectly "broken in" - so soft and comfortable. I would imagine these would do the same thing as they are a similar construction and also leather. As for any other recommendations - I can personally recommend the Kenneth Cole Reaction flats that I had above. Unfortunately, I have searched high and low and have not found a similar pair so they must not make the exact pair I have anymore. BUT, I'm sure most of his flats wear similar, you know? • I love these! they are super cute and comfy - as for which ones, thats a tough call- probably the gold or the black so you can wear them with more items and then accessorize with gold jewelry to highlight that adorable detail on them Report Spam Posted by sweetshorty at 7:09 PM on 01/16/11

  • I am buying a pair of these as soon as I don't have to walk in the gum infested hallways of high school! These are so classic, definitely worth the splurge in my opinion :) Report Spam Posted by crayola09 at 9:01 PM on 01/16/11

  • I bought a pair of the black patent flats. I LOVED the way the looked! The patent was super durable and held up to scratches. However they provide no cushioning or support for your feet. They rubbed on the side of my feet horribly. Oh, but they were so cute so I was determine to make it work. I thought I needed to just break them in, so I gave them six months. They still hurt! It it such a bummer! I ended up parting with them. I later looked at the Nordstrom's website and read the reviews on the shoes and saw others had similar issues. I wish I had seen those reviews before throwing down $200! Oh well! Report Spam Posted by clothesminded at 10:16 PM on 01/16/11

  • @clothesminded if you bought them at Nordstrom, you should definitely return them to there. They will take anything back no questions asked no matter how long its been because they do not have a return policy. Now my husband read somewhere that someone returned some shoes to them that were 7 years old! Something to keep in mind when purchasing these flats, maybe get them at Nordstrom:) Report Spam Posted by naominh at 6:05 AM on 01/17/11

  • I do not own these. I would love to have a black pair. Go for it!!! : } Report Spam Posted by kelsjax at 9:24 PM on 01/20/11

  • I don't own them. I like the pink pair; they look really cute. Although for work, the obvious and smart choice is to stick to black...or maybe even gold. Cheap flats hurt like @%#%. So, it looks like these would be a good choice and would be great in the long run. Worth every penny. Report Spam Posted by ice_skater at 12:18 AM on 04/29/11
