King of the Jungle!

Jun 15, 2011 in Home & Beyond
Back at the end of January one of my best friends told me that she was three months pregnant with her first baby! It was no surprise since about 5 months prior she told me that her and her husband were trying...but I definitely felt a sense of WOW since she is the first of my close girl friends to have a baby. Fast forward a few months and I had shopped til I dropped and gone baby shower crazy! Since they are decorating baby Carson's (it's a boy!) nursery in a safari theme, we decided to throw her a 'King of the Jungle' themed baby shower. So naturally I found everything I possibly could that was baby safari-ish....We're talking safari rubber duckies, personalized name blocks, animal pillows, personalized stickers, decorative branches(they were on clearance at nordstrom in bright green and orange...it was fate!!), and safari theme prizes like Monkey Bay wine. I love a good excuse to shop :-). When it got down to the wire it was a little stressful since I was flying out to NY only a few hours after the shower...but it turned out amazing! We played the usual Gift Bingo, Celebrity Baby Name Game, and Guess Mommy's Tummy size..but the real hit was Pin the Sperm on the Egg. And overall I think everyone, especially the Mommy-to-be, had a great time :-)

I wish I could post more pictures on here, but here are a few of my favorites:

Picture 1- My co-host, the Mommy-to-be, and Me (wearing this dress by Just Ginger)

Picture 2- The main diaper cake. I had bought all of the 'ingredients' and while I was putting together favors, my mom and my boyfriend nearly made the whole cake without me! My mom got all crafty and made it way cuter than I would have and Giancarlo rolled all of the diapers!

Picture 3- You can see the animal pillows that I found on clearance in the dollar bins at Target (fate!!), also the name blocks from etsy, and the gifts starting to pile up as guests were arriving!

Have you ever thrown a baby shower? Did you get as crazy carried away as I did?

XOXO,
K

  • I love it! You are such a great hostess :) I've never thrown a baby shower for one of my friends (fortunately, since they're all 16...) but if I did I'd definitely get as carried away as you! Report Spam Posted by crayola09 at 10:32 PM on 06/15/11

  • You did an amazing job with this shower.. I can't believe you did this before leaving for NYC! Whew... I can't even imagine how stressful preparing for this must have been. You and your friends look so pretty, and your PG friend looks adorable in her belted dress holding her belly ;o) Your a great friend for doing this... AND you look gorgeous, as usual. When I clicked on the link for the dress I did not think much of it.. not bad, but nothing special.. but on you... it looks the the perfect dress! Report Spam Posted by ajohns at 6:18 AM on 06/16/11

  • awww so sweet all that you did for your friend's shower. Very cute. I know I was touched when friends of mine decided to throw me a shower for my 2nd child. Usually you just get one for the first, but my husband and i had just moved far away from all my friends and family, so I think they knew how much I needed it. I was so touched, and I bet your friend was touched to know how much you cared, too! Report Spam Posted by agauthier79 at 6:59 AM on 06/16/11

  • I love the print of your dress! Baby showers aren't a huge deal in the UK really, although they are catching on, slowly. I haven't been to one. Report Spam Posted by x0xsharicex0x at 2:59 PM on 09/19/11
