A few years back I was commissioned by Rachael Ray's magazine to put together a Halloween party. Given how much I dread the notion of having to come up with a clever getup, I decided the best thing to do was create a party where people could come in their favorite party outfit and add "Halloween" flair when they walked in the door. Hence, the Heaven and Hell Party (that's me in the orange), where guests choose whether to wear a halo or horns and get to nosh on white and red stuff (I'm much more creative with food and decor than outfits!)

I can't stand plain-clothes folks at a costume party, but I know some people really don't like don't like dressing up. So I always have a "Box of Shame" at my Halloween party full of costume cast-offs.
