All dressed up and no where to go.

These selections are tame compared to the ones i only dreamed of choosing. Why bother to even put them on a list, there is no where to wear them. No One gets dressed up anymore. People use to get dressed up to travel and go to the show. Unless you go to the bar, there are no real alternatives. How about a ballroom dancing club? or monthly proms or dances? women don't have an opportunity to be a lady anymore. Nor a place for a man to sweep you off of your feet. I have a closet that only dreams.

  • Any individual, regardless what your race, gender or size are, has its own unique side to express through the fashion way. If each individual on the planet dresses all the same, this world would be very dual and tasteless. Fortunately, our human being actually is beautiful and colorful as each one has its own unique side. For instance, former First Lady Mrs. Kennedy, famous Italy actress Sophia Loren or American movie stars Ms. Taylor, just name a few, all have unique way to express their own personal beauty and elegance. Not only they understand their own fashion way, but the key is to use the fashion guideline to dress up distinctly. To follow the fashion guideline is important, however, knowing your own taste such as color, style is critical. However, the most important is to understand what your body type is also very crucial, because this is how to determine what type of fashion you should follow or avoid. The bottom line is to know who you are, what you should or should not and use the fashion guideline for you to dress yourself sharply and uniquely. It is also called dress to kill. • Well, I only have a couple in my closet and they are pretty old....but I still love them....and I have gazillion on my lists. My Dad, who died five years ago at 74 was a member of LIONS International, and they often held special occasion dinners and dances and sometimes even balls. They also had state and regional and international conventions which involved getting all dressed up. There are many charitable events that have a ball or a "formal dress" affair at least once every year. And if you wanted, you could perhaps have a small gathering of family or friends for a special birthday or anniversary or even for New Year's dinner together and make it a formal event. Bother to put the ones you really love on a list. There really are opportunities and even if they seldom occur, isn't it terrific fun to dream and plan....the only way dreams come true is if we help them along. It gives me enormous pleasure to have these beautiful gowns in a list. It allows me to express a cherished feminine part of me....and I enjoy sharing my "dream dresses" with others. I had a wonderful time looking at your list and reading your comments. If you find joy in something, that alone is a terrific reason to do it....and if you can give joy to someone else...maybe that's even a better reason. So, please, choose those dresses and put them on your list. They are worth far more than you imagined. Your friend.....Pat (paws72) Report Spam Posted by paws72 at 8:29 PM on 04/20/09

  • I agree that it's sad no one ever dresses up anymore. I have lists and lists of dresses, but in reality, I really don't wear dresses that often (although that has more to do with my self esteem and certain body parts than it does anything else). I LOVE the look of the 30s and 40s where women wore skirts and dresses with stockings and heels, lovely dress coats, hats and lady-like goves. It is my dream world. I think you should try to incorporate more skirts and dresses into your everyday closet (I'm trying to this spring!). They can be dressed up or down depending on what they're paired with. I'd try incorporating more skirts and dresses into my everyday closet and see how it branches out from there. : ) Report Spam Posted by gregsgal at 4:00 PM on 04/21/09

  • It is a shame that more people don't dress up. Maybe Gregsgal is right, if more people dress up, it might become more popular. If not, you'll at least look really nice! I too plan on addin more skirts and dresses to my spring look. Report Spam Posted by crinaeae at 10:38 AM on 04/24/09

  • i may be taking on a mature-version of steampunk style soon. I love the victorian. that would include more dresses! More lace! More hats! More jewels & babbles! Report Spam Posted by bluemoon31799 at 5:44 AM on 04/28/09

  • I agree that there's less opportunities these days, but actually it's kind of nice that one can go out to dinner or the movies without getting all dressed up. I don't think that the opportunities to get dressed to the nines are gone altogether though. On the contrary: I'm on tux #2 because the first one (which I had custom made for my wedding) died. It paid for itself though, between nice dinners, weddings, formal dances, etc. Many times I was the best dressed person there, but this usually resulted in compliments, and never a feeling that I was overdressed for the occasion. Sometimes you just have to say the heck with what everyone else is wearing and put on something really nice.I think your Dream Dresses list is awesome -- even found one to snarf!
