Magimix 5200 Food...
Jamie Oliver
Cuisinart Elite...
Hey hey! It has been awhile because I've had my parents over from the states visiting. It was really great to see them and they had an amazing time travelling all over England, Scotland and Wales. They also inspired the foodie in me by bringing over my well loved cast iron pan (seasoned to perfection but also a good fifth of one suitcases weight allowance) and loads of New Mexican seasonings! I love my mom and dad!

Phil's mum also has inspired me by buying me a copy of Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals. All of the recipes rely on food processors to get the 30 minute time which made me think, "I've been fantasizing about having a fab food processor for ages. Why haven't I just gone out and bought one?"

Which is where you all come in...I would love some food processor advice! I'm one that is willing to spend on quality so I'd rather spend a bit more on something that will last me a decade. I want to hear your experiences with food processors. Why you'd avoid a particular one or why you'd never give up your trusty brand. I want my processor to slice and dice of course, grate, and preferably liquidize. Fab add-ons would be juicers and the ability to handle dough but not necessary.

Anyways, I look forward to hearing from you! And if you don't have a processor, well keep it tuned. When I finally buy one I'll hopefully be raving about how wonderful it is!

  • Canadian Tire of all places has really good food processors. Mine is the Kitchenaid Power Pro (not sure if its still made tho as I got it 3-4 years ago). Look for one that has several blades, including a dough blade and different power levels/functions. I'd also recommend looking on the women's network under "shopping bags" and grocery bags" as anna & kristina of both shows review products, you'd find some good advice there once you locate the shows, you search by reviews. good luck!http://www.wnetwork.com/Shows.aspx?Category=Shopping Report Spam Posted by pinkone at 1:05 PM on 07/18/11

  • I like Cuisinart - a good Cuisinart will last decades. I would also recommend not getting a food processor/blender combination, they tend to not be constructed as well. They don't do either function as well as the separate products do, and they are more prone to breaking. Report Spam Posted by lynnie482 at 2:46 PM on 07/19/11

  • I think the one I have was a $40 Black & Decker one from Target. It works fine, but man, it's LOUD! And really, I don't expect it to be top of the line for 40 bucks...In Alton Brown's Gear For Your Kitchen book he recommends the Kitchenaid over Cuisineart processor because it's fantastic quality and the bowl is easier to clean. Alton Brown has yet to lead me astray in the other things I've tried that he's recommended, so I'd probably get the kitchenaid. Report Spam Posted by gregsgal at 7:20 PM on 07/21/11

  • Cool! I'll check out those reviews! I've been reading other reviews lately and I've been hearing amazing things about the Magimix 4200 which does have the blending option. I think I was reading that if you have something that has a powerful motor and is direct drive like the Magimix, there shouldn't be problem using it as a blender as well. The only thing is you'll definitely be paying for it as new this thing is £200 which is about $300-350 USD. Eeeeep! But I'm looking at things in all price ranges and seeing if it is worth getting an all-in-one or like @lynnie482 says and going for the separate gadgets. @gregsgal - I'll need to see if I can get that book from the library! Sounds very handy! Report Spam Posted by elenalee at 5:20 AM on 07/22/11

  • I am in the same pickle, literally cannot choose a food processor so thanks for this post and thanks to the replies. That's some food for thought, no pun intended! Report Spam Posted by x0xsharicex0x at 10:13 AM on 08/26/11

  • Hope you found something. I don't like anything but Cuisinart for a full size food processor but don't care that much between the different minis. Report Spam Posted by alicatstrut at 3:19 PM on 08/31/11
