Nicolette strappy heels from jcrew.com
Hey you guys! I was hoping everyone here could help me pick out a bridesmaid dress my my friends wedding next spring. She has asked all of her bridesmaids to pick out a knee length dress in the color "Clover". Luckily J Crew has a few options in this color that are on sale right now.  I am 5'3" and have an average weight hourglass figure. Which of these three dresses do you think would be the most flattering on someone with my figure?

Also, it's going to be an outside wedding, so what kind of shoes should I get? Normally I'd get a pair of heels, but I dont think that would be a good idea since I'll be walking around on grass the whole day. I'm also not sure what color shoes would look good with a "Clover" green dress. I usually wear all neutrals so this is a new one for me!

I'd love to hear your opinions. Thanks!!

  • I just found this dress too, which I love: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/dresses/weddingsparties/PRDOVR~11428/99102081375/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~clover/11428.jsp I think it would be something I could wear again with a cardigan and a belt at the waist. • Right up my alley, I'm actually a bridal consultant :) I really love the one on the left! I think v-necks are flattering on pretty much every body type and the skirt looks flowy and fun. I think flats would look adorable, but wedges are good for outdoor weddings. I would go with a neutral colored shoe or perhaps a metallic, depending on what her wedding colors are. Hope this helps! • I already voted on the middle one, it will definitely work well with your figure, and could also go with a belt and cardi, and the bust offers good support. Plus I love the bit of a retro look it has with the color and cut working together to give that vibe. Though, the strapless ones might offer more a of a chance for wearing again after the wedding, if you think you might do so. They could be done a little more casually for future wear. And you could still do the cardi and a belt with them, too. Report Spam Posted by agauthier79 at 7:50 AM on 08/18/10

  • While all of these dresses are gorgeous, I think that the first would flatter an hourglass figure the best. I flaunts curves without making them too apparent. Good luck! Report Spam Posted by crayola09 at 9:19 AM on 08/18/10

  • i kinda like the strapless for outside :] Report Spam Posted by sarahdipityyy at 10:00 AM on 08/18/10

  • I have a similar figure to yours I think and I'd choose the strapless one for myself. Wedges are a good bet for an outside wedding. I think gold would look lovely with the colour, but maybe check with the bride to see what accent colour she would prefer - all the bridesmaids might need to have the same colour. • I think the first one would look best for your figure, I love this color, and I think a neutral or like @soofaye said metallics would look good with this color. And also I think a wedge would be a better pick for an outdoor wedding, since it gives height but at the same time you can handle the grass. Report Spam Posted by nahi at 12:48 PM on 08/18/10

  • The first one or the "fourth" one seem like really nice choices. I like vnecks and strapless dresses myself. As for shoes, I think either flats or wedges seem like good choices, as mentioned before by others; I think you can still get away with a nice neutral or go with the accent color of your friend's wedding. • I like the one you linked to at J Crew SO much. If you don't go with that one, I like the middle one. Really, you can pull off any of them, though. Report Spam Posted by alicatstrut at 2:34 PM on 08/18/10

  • Oh, and go for wedges for outside. Don't want to sink into the grass. :) Report Spam Posted by cristina at 2:36 PM on 08/18/10

  • I'm a fan of the dress on the right. It's kinda retro fitting, and I think would work well with your body type... Id go for wedges, or flat sandles if your going to be standing alot. Also, a cream cardi would be cute with it too. Report Spam Posted by betsy2you at 6:34 PM on 08/18/10

  • The first one or the one that you linked to. Good luck! :) Report Spam Posted by weslee at 7:27 PM on 08/18/10

  • I already picked the strapless, but I like the one you posted best. As for shoes, If you wear flats, on grass in the morning you get wet feet. I wore pin heels at one wedding and kept sinking as I marched, but the girls in more blocky heels did fine. I would go for a wedge heel w/a slight block like this: http://www.asos.com/Ravel/Ravel-Metallic-Party-Sandal/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=888120&cid=11553&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=Silver I'm not in love with those shoes, but you get the idea. Good luck, Would love to see the finished look. Report Spam Posted by lavabunny at 12:53 AM on 08/20/10

  • I like the first and second choices best. V-necks are so pretty, and after a while strapless dresses become very uncomfortable for me, and I always want to try and pull them up at the top. For shoes I would do neutral or metallic flats. Report Spam Posted by lynnie482 at 3:42 PM on 08/20/10

  • i love the dress you linked!! i think that would be very flattering to your shape and size. i think it would look cute with wedges. although if you wore flats id go with a gold metallic maybe?! its kind of hard to judge how it would look without seeing in person. ;] good luck! • I'm really digging the one you linked to, but I also like the second one (I have a red dress in the same cut, and it's super flattering!). Report Spam Posted by jinnyjinn at 5:21 PM on 08/21/10

  • i love the first and last dress....i would pick shoes according to whatever the brides other accent colors are. another candy color would look really cool, like purple or orange Report Spam Posted by greentea_ at 12:23 PM on 08/22/10

  • I'd go with one of the first two dresses. They are both styles that are flattering on any figure unless you have uber-small boobs. Also, unless it is a very nature-y wedding, I tend to steer clear of strapless unless the bride chooses it. And I second the wedges. Report Spam Posted by elenalee at 12:07 PM on 09/15/10

  • I think Nicolette strappy heels would be great... Report Spam Posted by spacify_inc at 4:15 AM on 10/20/10
