Where's my Shampoo in Shining Armor?

Hello, everyone. Sorry if you expected me to make a post to talk to you, but I need your help. AGAIN. Anyway, the problem is this:
MY HAIR.
SO. Let me tell you a little about my hair. Or what I call hair, for all intensive purposes. Let me give it to you straight: if you were expecting a Pantene add, then prepare to be majorly disappointed. In fact, my hair looks more like a small brown rodent that crawled up and DIED on my head.
Well, okay, it's not that bad. All overdramatic-ness aside, my hair is actually a nice colour (mid-brown with natural highlights). The only problem is the shape. See, my hair isn't actually straight enough to be called straight - and I don't mean board-straight, just moderately straight - but it's not wavy enough to be called wavy either. What really happens in the morning is that my hair is a TOTAL mess (true), then I straighten it with my crappy drugstore straightener. In the winter, this was not a big problem, because it wasn't very humid. But even now, in spring, my hair is starting to DO IT again. (And no, I don't mean DO IT like that). I mean...well, have you seen the teenage skater boys with the hair that flips out at the sides? Yeah, that's what MY hair does. Except I don't do it on purpose. It just does that, in humid weather. And maybe it looks hot on guys, or on girls with really short hair, but not on me, lemme tell ya.
I guess the main point to take away from this seminar would be: I need a straightening cream/balm/spray. I don't care if you put it on after the shower, when your hair is wet, or spray it on when your hair is dry. I just don't want to go to a salon (not money, I just don't want to). So please: what is the best straightening balm/cream/[insert noun of your choice here]? Thank you, as always, my devoted minions...um, listeners.

I had similar issues with cheaper straightning irons in the past - I just didn't ever feel like they got quite hot enough. I went into a beauty supply store and asked what they would suggest. I ended up with some potato starch spray something or other that only made my hair feel sticky - and I hated that. So, after doing copious amounts of online research about which irons were considered fantastic and in my price range, I eventually broke down and bought myself a Chi (about $110 from Target) and I haven't had any problems since. I use Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine anti-frizz serum and gloss drops to make my hair soft and shiny.
Okay, thanks. I am planning to get myself a nicer straightener, but unfortunately, the one I want runs at about $200 or more, so I'm still a little hesitant.
My hair is exactly the same... not wavy and not straight either. I've tried everything! Maybe I should splurge for a nice straightener too.
my hair is like yours! and i totally get upset with my hair...including screaming and asking it why its stupid...im just wierd like that...talking to my hair and what not.
anyways..hair help..hair help..hmmm....
i use avenda's hang straight (my hair dresser suggested it to me) it a straightening lotion made from mushroom roots..it smooths flyaways, boosts shine, resists effects of humidity on curly or wavy hair..and if i still don't sound like a commerical enough i believe it to work amazingly! i LOVE it!
you just put alittle on you hair before straightrening it! it alittle pricey but i lasts for a while! hope that kinda helps! :D
Yeah, my stylist recommended Aveda too. I was a little hesitant to take her advice, though, because the salon sells only Aveda products (do I detect a bonus for any hairstylist who sells an expensive shampoo?)
im not to sure! but the place i go to only sells avenda too! so i normally buy their products! i think they work great! :)
