Highschool Help && Quick Review!

16 ›

Helllo Everyone!
Ahh I know I am never really on. But still, everything with school has become top priority at the moment.

Well, I am in 8th grade and so where I live, I am still in Middle School. I dont like middle school at all. School has also been very stressful, friends and drama and then the classes. But this month is crazy because now I have to sign up for highschool and pick my classes.
I have no clue what to choose. I know I am going to pick honors classes and I almost have my wholee schedule worked out.
Except for one class.
I need to pick a language.
My choices are German, Spanish, and French.

I know Spanish is the most common language, and I will probably use it more but im still stuck.
But most of the people I know will be doing french, but then there is German!
Im so stuck, anyone have advice or experience with one of these languages?
Thanks!

Quick Review.

Recently I had an Honor Society meeting and I had to dress up. I found a dress and then I was walking through Nordstrom and wandered over to the MAC cosmetics counter. I dont own much of their products. I also dont have many lipsticks. So I was looking at the colors and fell in love with this one. I had seen and wanted it before but I actually got it this time.
This is MAC's lipstick in Bombshell. Its suck a pretty pink. I was going to get a more nude color but i thought i usually wear more pinks. Its such a nice i guess shimmery light pink. Its nothing like a hot pink that is totally bright but it gives a nice pink tone to any look. I loooove it<3. I usually like to top if off with a nice gloss ( i have wayy too much glosses, but you can never have too many) and like to put either Lancome's Over the Rainbow sheer gloss or Nordstrom Luna Twilight sheer gloss. Overall, great product! I love MAC.

In the left picture is me up at my cousins cabin. It has this ah-mazing view and I went up with my cousins, dad, and brother for mid-winter break. I had so much fun. Just laughing like crazy over there, its always fun to hang out with your close family. I dont know if you can see, but my boots (for the snow but it had all melted) are by Columbia.
My white jacket is a Northface.
Just plain black skinny jeans from Old Navy and some pink aviator glasses which I got in some town.

Wellll this was just a quick update! Thank you everyone! Just comment beloww! :) I will be on here more, now that spring and summer is coming up and I need to find things for vacations ahead and just summer!

xoxo,
Emma(:

  • Wow, I definetley thought you were a lot older than that!!! Not to talk about myself here, but my boyfriend speaks all those languages and english, and he said that german is the hardest to learn. Therefore, I think you should take German in school and then if you would like to learn Spanish and French, then maybe you could teach them to yourself? Your hair is so long and pretty, by the way! • @maye_ haha im 14 but i should be in 9th already. I just went to school late. But I've heard German is really hard, but it is something I do want to take. I'd be taking it all 4 years so i think i could maybe handle it. But thank you, i want my hair to grow out a bit longer. haha Report Spam Posted by crazyemm at 9:22 PM on 03/06/11

  • Spanish is easiest, then French, German is difficult. If you're only going to take language in High School and that will be it don't bother with German as I don't think you''ll pick up enough in that time for it to be useful, unless you will continue in college. I took French over Spanish, glad I did but Spanish is probably more practical and the easiest to learn Report Spam Posted by kshoffman at 9:23 PM on 03/06/11

  • I can relate with that drama I hate it!!! : } Report Spam Posted by kelsjax at 9:25 PM on 03/06/11

  • @kshoffman I am leaning towards French. I'd rather take French, but i know Spanish is more commonly used. @kelsjax its the worst!! lol Report Spam Posted by crazyemm at 9:31 PM on 03/06/11

  • I think that Spanish and French are the most useful languages. I personally would suggest French because the culture is very interesting, which makes the class seem like more of a choice rather than a requirement. But if you plan to work in a field where spanish will be more useful, definitely take that because it's very practical. Report Spam Posted by crayola09 at 9:37 PM on 03/06/11

  • @crazyemm I can't even go from class to class without a girl trying to gossip about everything. I just want to go to school and do my work. I am ready to graduate as soon as I can. I love to cheer I am just glad to be away from some of those girls I never want to see again. I bet you are having some of these problems too. I want to have fun school is suppose be fun now.Hope things start to work out for you soon!!! : } Report Spam Posted by kelsjax at 9:38 PM on 03/06/11

  • @kelsjax I know how you feel! There is just so much drama, all different types. I cant WAIT for highschool. I've been sooo stressed and im falling behind in school and I just wanna finish the school year. Thank you! Hope things work out for you too! (: Report Spam Posted by crazyemm at 9:45 PM on 03/06/11

  • Well congrats on the whole middle school thing, Idk but I had SO MUCH FUN in middle school! As for language, I am taking Spanish and it is so easy. If you are taking honors and Aps like I am it's best to get the language that is easiest because it's something you really can't worry about since you're obligated to take the class to graduate. As for the lipstick, I don't wear make up or use lipstick and what not but thanks for the review! I really like that color! The moutains look lovely!! • Spanish IS the practical way to go. It is the most commonly used foreign language, and it looks good when you want to get a job, and you can say you are bilingual. Learning Spanish (most often Spanish from Spain, which is totally weird imho) will also help you to understand other languages, such as Portuguese and even some French. No joke!I speak Spanish (English is my second language), and it is interesting how many languages you can pick up, even if only just a little by knowing spanish. That being said...I was never a fan of French, I do always wish I would have taken German. The language is intriguing to me. I vote Spanish OR German! • First, are you just 14 years old? You look a bit older than that, but for sure you are so chic and pretty. Second, most popular languages are English,Chinese,Spanish,French...Since spanish is more widely used than French & German, also easier to learn, why do you want to swift it to French or German? Third,if you want to learn Chinese, probably I can help. Fourth,I want to learn Spanish, wonder who can do language exchange with me? Report Spam Posted by daled at 1:49 AM on 03/07/11

  • I took German, but now I never use it. I would suggest spanish. Report Spam Posted by emiliemarie713 at 7:29 AM on 03/07/11

  • French would be fun, but I think you would have more use of the Spanish. You do look older than 14! Best of luck Report Spam Posted by ajohns at 8:42 AM on 03/07/11

  • I love french! I started taking it in 7th grade and continued on to minor in it in college...so gorgeous! Bonne chance! ;-) Report Spam Posted by sweeetkristen at 11:21 AM on 03/07/11

  • I'm so glad I'm done with highschool, although sometimes I miss it. You honestly probably won't actually learn to really speak any language through a high school class, unless you're really dedicated. So I would say just choose whatever one sounds the most fun to you. I'd go with French, just because it seems so romantic. Report Spam Posted by tiffalaine at 11:56 AM on 03/07/11

  • I chose German in high school and really enjoyed it. It's a really underrated language and is quite interesting. I also think French would be fun to learn! Unfortunatley for me, none of the languages I really wanted to learn were offered in High School. Good luck with your descision! :) Report Spam Posted by bellitude at 12:09 PM on 03/07/11

  • @tiffalaine at my highschool its a required thing, i dont know if thats for any highschool or not, and i also really want to learn one. but everyone seems to be saying French and thats what i have been leaning towards. Thanks everyone! (: Report Spam Posted by crazyemm at 12:29 PM on 03/07/11

  • Hope my comment isn't too late. First, that picture of your cousin's is incredible. What a beautiful view, and you look so chic. Second, the lipstick....that's a very pretty color you picked, soft and feminine....I think it will be great for occasional use, but I like the idea of using lots of lip gloss for most of the time. Now, the big issue...school. @amelioratelj was homeschooled for high school and I am convinced that's the ideal ....at least in this time and place. Regarding languages, I have studied Latin...three years, French....four years and Russian...two college semesters. Latin should be offered in every school because Latin (though it is called a DEAD language) is actually the most useful...so many English words have their basis in latin, that knowing Latin helped me do exceeding well on SAT tests and all classes....high school and college...involving words...even science. Latin is the language that all the other "romance languages" (Spanish, French and Italian) evolved from. So, imho, EVERYONE should learn Latin, in school or out....and, given the world we live in today...everyone should be required to learn Mandarin Chinese. Keep these in mind....however, with the choices you have, I would pick Spanish...it is the easiest and relates quite well to Latin and all the other romance languages....once you learn Spanish, it will be much easier to pick up French or any of the other languages. I'm sure German would be neat....but think of it as a hobby...whereas the others will be very helpful to you in the future, no matter what you choose to do. You will do well no matter what you pick. • I would take German or Spanish as they are the most practical languages. It's easy to pick up French on your own. Pink lips all the way! Report Spam Posted by lavabunny at 12:23 AM on 03/08/11

  • I think Spanish is deff the easiest. Plus, it may help you in the long run because often in college you will need to take a language. Since spanish is easiest, you will probably be able to retain most of it and use it later on in college years. HOWEVER, German is awesome and dead sexy. haha. But I would go with Spanish. I've been looking for a nice pink lip color. That one is so pretty. Especially for spring. Thanks for sharing and good luck with everthing! Report Spam Posted by stelllar at 1:39 PM on 03/08/11

  • from what i understand, spanish and french are super similar. buuut, french has a ton of accents that are hard to remember. i've been taking spanish for two years, and i can actually understand some of it now. i know nothing about german, but i wouldnt choose it because i will never use it, [even in germany, most people speak english]. pink lips sound cuuute. Report Spam Posted by sarahdipityyy at 1:49 PM on 03/09/11

  • I think you should stick with the language that is easier and most jobs look for. From what i`ve heard, German is kinda hard. French also can be fun but it`s kinda long. I also like the pink lips. I wanted to try it. Report Spam Posted by danni6 at 2:05 PM on 03/10/11

  • I would do the language you are most intrested in. I picked Spanish because I thought it was the language I would use the most, but now i'm kinda disappointed I didn't choose French. I'm not sure but I also think Spanish might be the most similar to english. Report Spam Posted by tiffany18190 at 8:17 AM on 03/13/11

  • any languages , the more the better & make more friends that way. I speak 5, well 3 dialect of chinese, which are all different, and vietnamese then english. Don't be discourage to learn any other language, because if it's hard it isn't really. Just as English it was difficult. So, don't get afraid to learn German. As French , it can also be practical as well. I had worked at a French company I wished I knew how to speak it fluently. Spanish, I took 3 years, so I'm able to understand, speak it, not so fluently but okay and no problem with the pronunciations and writings a bit. What those new HD cultural stations on TV, everyone from all nationality speaking a language not of their native tongue , which is a great thing. "one race, one world, one universal love"however, practical for life, business, future, use the one that are used in all or most countries Report Spam Posted by hughvanngo at 4:32 PM on 03/18/11

  • I did french and really enjoyed it ;) that said, I sort of wish I had learned Spanish too - french is a beautiful language - I think you would enjoy it Report Spam Posted by sweetshorty at 9:36 PM on 03/19/11
