I leave for college on the 29th and start classes on the 2nd. I don't know what I'm gonna wear to move-in day or for the first day of classes. I'm so excited though.. and only a little nervous. This will be the first time I'm away from home.

I think your outfit is cute :] It's put together but still comfortable enough for a day that no matter how prepared you are will knowingly be stressful. I really like the bright bag! I'm sure it will strike up conversation with girls!

The only advice I can offer is to make yourself approachable. Don't put your head in a book or look uninterested. Put your beautiful smile on because it's always the best accessory a girl can have! :D GOOD LUCK!

Making yourself approachable is good, but don't be afraid to start conversation yourself either. Just try to relax and you'll do fine.

I think a smile goes a long way. So many people walk around and don't smile at each other anymore. Especially girls, we tend to look the other way if another girl walks past us.
I like to take the initiative when I can and try to introduce myself. Remember this isn't high school, people are a bit more mature and often in the same boat as you.

I'm really shy also, but way back when when I was in 8th grade (we had a jr. high) I was sorta in your position. I had moved to that town just two days before school started and was completely freaked. At lunch I found a cozy little table where no one else was sitting. A few minutes later a girl just randomly walks up, sits down and says, "I'm gonna sit with you." I look up to see a girl that was a total sports fanatic (I like sports, but not as much as she does). We didn't talk for the rest of lunch and for the next day or two. Finaly we just started talking to each other. We became best friends because she was also new. My advice to you is find a table with one or two solitary people, and sit down unexpectedly. They might just become really good friends. After a while of just the two of us we moved down the table a bit and joined this really awesome group of about 8 or so other girls (and occasionally thier bf's). I know it sounds scarry but just take a chance, and if you don't have a lunch with a cafeteria and all, just walk arround campus and find a place you love that screems you and just take to sitting there. Someone might join you there also.

The outfit is very cute and looks totally comfortable too! Just be yourself and enjoy yourself. College will be the best years of your life so enjoy every moment of it! I remember my college years and miss them so much! I still take classes every now and then but it's not the same anymore when you have a family and kids.

I'm sure you will do fine. That bag will catch some eyes and earn you some compliments. Just start talking to the people that are in your classes and you will make tons of friends.
