FEBRUARY!!
Wow! I can't believe I haven't updated my blog in almost a month!!! Things have been pretty hectic since school started up, and I've been starting to read a lot too. I just finished Girl With A Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson and it was awesome!! I highly recommend it. It's about 600 pages though so make sure you have a lot of time to dedicate to it!! I can't wait to read The Girl Who Played With Fire! and Bright Shiny Morning next! I'm currently reading Brida by Paulo Coelho but haven't gotten too into it yet. I LOVED the Alchemist so I hope I will love this!! Bright Shiny Morning is by the contreversial James Frey, but I don't care how much was truth, etc. I loved his books and I read them both in like 3 days each. I love his writing style.
ART SCHOOL
This half of the semester I am taking Mixed Media. It's pretty cool, we're developing concepts and using Pastels, and Watercolor paints, and of course adding digital media. It's fun, but it's not easy!
I'm also taking Electronic Design which is a LOT of concept development, sketching, layouts, marketing/branding and designing ads and newsletters for the fake companies we created for the class.
This week is especially hectic because it's my boyfriend's 25th birthday, and 2 of his friends are coming in from out of town, plus his parents. I have 8 assignments due this week so I'm trying to get them finished by Thursday. Yesterday I did 4 out of the 8! It was amazing!! But the others are more in depth because they are the final stages of these week-long projects.
FACE LIFT
I've also been focusing on my complexion, health and fitness lately. I have this perfect toner from Sephora that is awesome. I've also been wearing Oil of Olay with SPF every single day for at least a year. I used to wear it every day since high school but I switched to Wexler for awhile and then I never switched back. The Wexler stuff is so expensive, I just use her face washes and they are amazing. Along with Oil of Olay Complete Daily Moisturizer with SPF15 for Sensitive Skin... I think I found my perfect line of products to help keep my acne in check! (Finally!) I think my skin looks really good today though!! I guess I've been going for the classic hollywood makeup look. I don't really wear eyeshadow every day, but mascara, blush, concealer where I need it... and redishbrownish berry colored lipstick.
PLAID IS RAD
Today I saw this ADORABLE plaid, short-sleeved blouse from Kenzie on ideeli. I almost bought it but it was 40.00 after shipping. I have this really cute plaid button-down from H&M and it was only like $4, so I decided not to get the one on ideeli and run over to H&M on my lunch break.
I tried on a hot pink poofy/tube dress that was super adorable but also 40.00. I also want to buy more things for spring and the material was maybe a little heavy for summer. It was super cute though!!!
So I went with 3 plaid button-down short-sleeved blouses. One is bright pink with lots of colors in the plaid stripes. Another is white with peachy orange checks (and elastic rouching in the back so it's super fitted!), and the other is white with shades of blue and aqua. The blue one has elastic rouching around the waist at the bottom so I need a belt to wear with it. I bought a super flowery elastic one with a zipper closure but it might be too much going on. But I thought I might be able to just reverse it and wear the white side showing... either way, I'm sure I'll find a use for the belt!!
I also bought a pair of pointy flats in hot pink. I miss being punky and colorful!
Maybe this is me feeling old because I'm turning 26 in a few weeks. My 1/4 life crisis.
NEW INK SOON!
On top of the colorful stuff, I've been thinking of getting a new tattoo and I think I am going to get a clock. That pink cukoo clock is really cute...but I dunno about pink.
I've been waiting to get more tattoos because I don't want to get them all at once. I want to do everything in good taste with art in mind. My rose tattoo is actually just for aesthetic value and has no meaning besides that my boyfriend got it for me as a Christmas gift a few months after we started going out. When we met I worked at Hard Rock Cafe and when I got out of work late at night I would bring us salads and drinks and we would watch Miami Ink marathons. :)
I've also been thinking of getting a swallow outline because it's very symbolic to me. In a way it goes along with the cuckoo clock because it also has to do with time.
The swallow silhouette represents my friend who died and what she taught me about living life and how to be a free spirit. She was truly amazing, was such a solid support in my life during my teens. I wore a necklace with a flat white shell pendant shaped like a swallow to her funeral, and someone turned around and complimented me on it and said it seemed so peaceful. Peace was the one thing I think we were all looking for on that extremely difficult day. It's totally important to me, and although I don't really need something concrete to remember her by, it's almost a symbol of faith in myself and in others. When nobody believed in me, or half-supported me, she supported me all the way. She told me I could do whatever I wanted to and when you believe in something you can do it. Instead of being hopeful I was determined.
It was one of the single-most important things I ever learned in my life. And it's a feeling I want to spread too. I don't do it enough... I just want this to be a constant reminder.
Maybe I could incorporate the swallow into the cuckoo clock, or maybe I'll just get the swallow.
I don't think I want it filled or colored in because I can't afford room for error on this one. It has to be in it's purest form. Like a blank canvas.
Anyway... :)
