Retail Rehab + Catch Up!

Hi Everyone!!

I just wanted to write this because I haven't been coming on Kaboodle much lately!! This makes me so sad but I've had so many things going on!!

I recently finished a temp position so I have no cashflow! I have to focus on paying off my debt as much as possible, and I am barely scraping by right now. As the years go by, I'm getting older with no savings plan or investments. It makes me mad. My bf always says to live in the present but I just can't because of my job situation.

I need an intervention. (First step to recovery- admitting you have a problem.)

Here is my new plan:
NO lunches out
NO morning coffees unless I make it at home
NO more than 2 takeout dinners a week

Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
MAKE ART- don't buy it. :(
Have a tag sale?

Transfer 5.00 a day from checking into savings to make up for coffee and lunches I didn't have. (I can always transfer it back if I don't make ends meet.)

Could it work? That's over $100.00 of savings a month. Equating to 1,200 a year. Better than nothing, and hopefully in that time I'll have a job and I can save more than that.

Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease letmegetajob.

Anyone else feeling crunched?

P.S. Don't forget April 15th is tomorrow! LAST DAY FOR TAXES!!

  • Good luck with the job hunt, I'm sending positive vibes your way! Report Spam Posted by triplyksis at 1:12 PM on 04/14/10

  • My cashflow is running so low right now and I feel like the lower it gets, the more people come out of the woodwork to remind me of what I owe them! So I feel you. The number one best thing I've been doing to prevent myslef from spending so much money is going out! I used to go out ad drop up to $100 a night... I regret that now! • I hope your situation improves soon. I understand what you mean though, I spent the whole of last year and the start of this year without a job, which was tough. I've just got two though (hence why I've been M.I.A from Kaboodle for ages), so keep positive and there will be something around the corner! I think you've made some good changes though, with the savings. Good luck! Report Spam Posted by x0xsharicex0x at 2:53 PM on 04/14/10

  • good luck finding a job! i hope you get something soon!! i know how you feel, i'm trying to make myself stop shopping and pay off my credit cards but its sooo hard! love the pic you chose for this post btw. :) Report Spam Posted by jennic at 5:43 PM on 04/14/10

  • good luck, sound like you have a good plan to get back on track:) Report Spam Posted by naominh at 5:47 PM on 04/14/10

  • I feel ya girl|! I work in retail so its so hard not to spend! I think your plan will work great if you go through with it. I too am sending positive vibes your way! Report Spam Posted by dreapuff at 6:06 PM on 04/14/10

  • Best of luck to you in saving and finding some cash flow! I hope something comes your way soon in the job dept. Its gotta be so hard to be that crunched and not get to even splurge on morning coffees, but they do add up when you think about it, and sometimes you can make ones just as good at home. Its good that you are thinking about the future and about saving some $$. Report Spam Posted by agauthier79 at 11:11 AM on 04/15/10

  • Thanks everyone!!! I really appreciate your comments and support!! We'll see... things change so quickly, but at least for now I'm still temping. And the start of the fiscal year is in a couple of months and that's when people a) retire and b) hire!!! I'm glad I'm not alone though!! It is tough out there, and sometimes it seems so competitive because when older people were my age, they had been in a career job for a few years! I'll keep everyone updated if anything amazing happens! lol <3 (So far the scrounging for money is working fairly well! It's nice to see it grow slowly... nice little safety pile.) • Sounds like a good plan. Hope it is coming along well. I empathize with the need for work and savings and the whole retail crunch thing. Report Spam Posted by lauriera at 5:42 PM on 05/14/10
