Yeah, the one that got me was the recent round of that poem from the dying girls doctor. I got WAY too many of them. STOP people. And, I'm sorry. I did start one that people spammed me back with. It was a link to feed homeless animals in shelters. Sorry. But I have a thing for that. And I agree SO much with changing the Subject of your message. If you can't be bothered to at least change the subject, maybe you shouldn't bother to send it at all. Sorry. But think about it people. Fun post to read, and all too true.

Well said and high time someone did!!! I love Kaboodle, but I'm also a member of Stylehive. Lately I've found myself spending more and more time there because they don't do styleboards and people tend NOT to send me irrelevant emails or comments. I for one, really appreciate that.

Agreed. Second tier: people who are using Kaboodle to sell things. I always check a profile before I add a "friend." If there are the letters ".com" anywhere in the profile, I just delete the invite. If more people would do this, they would help drive these people out of Kaboodle. Really pisses me off.

i agree completely! i delete people from my list regularly for filling my inbox with nonsense.

I also love when people forward spam to everyone on their f-list asking them to stop sending it. That really helps.

Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time when Kaboodle started being filled with spam >.< But yeah, I do clean up and regularly delete people that spam me with stuff in my inbox.

I've complained about this issue on the Kaboodle forum a while back, but no one else responded so I thought it was just me who is fed up with it. I wish there was a way to to block those emails other then deleting the person altogether, which is what I usually end up doing anyway.
Recently an email I sent to a few friends on kaboodle, a long time ago has resurfaced and has been forwarded back to me several times with my name still attached. That irked me, as I did not intend for it to be used as spam (even if it was for an honorable cause, the information contained in it is now outdated)!

Revisit: I've thought several times lately how nice it would be to have a preferences setting for messages. They could have a short list of checkboxes and we could choose what kind of messages we prefer to receive from friends. I like to see other peoples ideas. That is why I am here. It's the chain letters and people who send 15 styleboards in a row that drive me crazy. But, oth, I started to send out a one day sale coupon code yesterday to my friends list, but I didn't after thinking about this post. I know most would have appreciated it, especially since it was for something a lot of people here use, but I didn't. :( So be careful what exactly you wish for.

@lamerchick - I agree ... but theres a difference between getting dead puppy emails, or 12 new style board emails from the same person and getting something that says "Hey I got a great coupon code". I may not shop where the coupon code is from, but I appreciate that someone sent it. Just like I appreciate the blogazine posts or style board posts from people that don't send many. I think my point is mostly that people should think a moment before sending something.

I used to open and respond to nearly every styleboard/blogzine message in my inbox, but now I get over 200 messages in my inbox a week so I just delete almost all of them without opening them because it's just too time consuming. There are specific members whose 'zines and styleboards I do like getting notifications on though. And like you said, it makes a difference when people change the default subject line. It would be nice to have a check box option on your friends profiles that you could check if you dont want to receive "notifications" from them.

Or the other way around, where you have to subscribe to notifications about someone's styleboards or blogazines or whatever.

Those are great ideas (customizing notifications or subscribing whatever) that would make a big difference!

I'm sure the amazing Kteam is has something about customizing the notifications in the works, but in the mean time, is it too much to ask adults to police themselves? I can't really blame Kaboodle for people sending me dead puppy emails, and personally, I'd rather NOT have a lot of notification stuff to decide on, or have to deal with. Simply asking people not to be ass-hats should be enough. (Although I'm pretty sure that's never been enough in any circumstance. heh)

As usual though, 100% agree with you! I had over 100 messages when I logged on today. I just go through and delete them all, unread, at this point.

My idea to control spam was to limit the number of notifications a person could send out per day. So people would have to pick and choose only their best stuff to share.

Time to weed out my friends list again though...

Oh well, some won't get this post, but I'm sorry anyway. Whatever. My last post didn't come across right. :( I agree with the whole theme of this though. :( I seem to have had an entire day of bad communication. I'm really about ready to bail out of K too. :(

@lamerchick - aww, don't go anywhere. (I love your lists, darn it!) I hate those bad communication days. Mine usually last about 3 weeks. heh. ugh.

wow, you dont know how happy i am that you sent this!!! I haven't checked my inbox in like, oh, 2 or 3 days & I have over 100 messages! I just go through & delete anybody who's not really my friend. I have to admit that I do send out a styleboard every once in a while (every week or so, if i'm bored) and lately i've been sending out my blogs, but i find them funny so i will continue to do so ;o) i like the feedback i get on here, and there are certain 'boodlers that i like, but send out WAY TOO MUCH SPAM! I can handle 1 or 2 styleboards a day...but NOT 5. The blogs don't bother me much since many of them, like yours, are interesting and fun. Whoa, i'm getting rant-y now too! Anyways, good job on the post and let me know if you are mad at me ;o)

oh and the dead puppy thing?? that makes me want to punch a person for sending it. kaboodle is not the place.

I agree. I'm glad to hear that this may be fixed soon, too.

Oh well, from one extreme to the other now. There has to be a happy medium somewhere we can find. What's the point in creating polls or styleboards if no one is going to see them? I really think we need an optout checkbox to say if we don't want to recceive any of that kind of stuff. And then the Send to All Friends thing can be put back for those who like to receive that stuff. I don't know. I'm on the fence now... :(
