Out With the Old, In With the New?

So early last year, my husband bought me this awesome 7.2MP Nikon Coolpix S50 camera (see black camera above). For the last almost-two years, never has this camera failed me. It takes wonderful pictures, and they are so clear and vivid. So clear, in fact, that there are times when people ask me to retake a picture of them, because the camera captures every single zit or imperfection! The only thing that I am displeased with are the few scratches on the front, caused by some stupid crowdsurfers at my last concert. Otherwise, the camera is perfect and will be perfect for taking pics for years to come!
But then a few weeks ago, I see a commercial with Ashton Kutcher presenting the younger sibling of my camera: the S60 (see pink camera above). Not only does it come with 10.0MP and an awesome touch screen, but as you can see, it comes in a lovely pink color that just draws me in.
There are two downfalls: 1) This beauty costs $350. 2) I'm on a budget. Selling my old camera won't help much either, it only sells for around $100 now. But should I splurge anyway and buy this for myself for Christmas? Or am I crazy for wasting my money, when I already have a lovely perfectly-working camera, and I only want this new camera for its touch screen and pretty pink color? (cuz I definitely don't need it for the 10MP!) After all, I'm sure they'll come out with an even better camera next year, right? Then I'll feel like this new camera is outdated anyway!
Have any of you ever faced similar situations? Are you guys the type to keep up with the newest electronics, or do you think it's a waste of money? I'd love to know!

the same thing happend to me, my husband gave me a camera, almost 3 years ago, but the camera is still working good, take good pictures, but i want a new one, hahaha i got the money , but i'm not sure if buy the new one, or just stay with the old one...
I think is better that you stay with the old one, if you like how it take the pictures...
OMG! I have that same camera! You are sooo right...it takes beautiful pictures <3 my friends always tell me to take pictures of them too. This one time at a party I somehow became the photographer! Everyone gave me their email addresses at the end so that I could send them the pics! My index finger hurt for using it all night hahaha (ok so I'm exagerating)...LOL I have the same problem you do! I also saw the commercial but then I realized that the camera I have works wonders. I'm gonna wait 'till it stops working so that I could buy myself the newer, cuter version! <3
Good job!
No matter how much I hate to say it, save your money and keep your camera that works perfectly. I used to (and still do) want the latest and greatest, but I've gotten much better of talking myself out of something just because it's the latest and greatest, especially if what I have works just fine. Sometimes it's not easy, but on the other hand I'd be dead broke and living in the street. ;)
DUDE!!!!!!!THOSE R KOOOL!!!!!!!!
You could wait until after the holidays. The new camera will be cheaper by then and, in the meantime, you could look out for special deals on it.
Thanks, everyone, for the great advice! I guess I will wait then.. Patience is key, after all!
Honestly..I would just stick with your old camera. The features of the new one aren't that much better- touch screens are honestly...kind of overrated lol...and you were right...10MP isn't something you really need for just every-day photos like most of us take.
Anyway, I def. see the appeal of the new one but...if it were me I'd prob. just stick with the old one. OR ask your parents or husband for the new one for Xmas and see what happens! lol
