YESSTYLE?

8 ›
Nov 16, 2008 in Fashion
Anyone who has been to the Yesstyle website would probably agree with me on one thing:

The site sells undeniably fashionable clothes.

But there are a few things that have prevented me from browsing the site comfortably, and from EVER actually ordering something.

First of all, I have to make it clear that this site is one of my favorite finds. I do very much wish I COULD buy from the site, because

1) The merchandise is presented in such a way that almost all of the items look appealing enough to buy. The models are all beautiful, and the outfits they wear are very skillfully put together. The photography is not plain, but a little photoshoot-esque, and there is rarely an item without a real human modeling it in the picture.

2) The stuff is so effing stylish!! If you look at the first and second pictures I have included, they are pretty much typical outfits that fashionable teenagers would like. Sure, there are a number of fugly items on the site, but there are thousands and thousands of "hip", cute, cool, sexy peices being sold, so who cares about 40-50 fugly ones?

3) Original clothes. This is a mostly Korean-based site, with clothes from a lot of asian designers, I guess. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I would say the clothes on the site are more fashionable, cute, and well put together than most American or UK sites I've seen. You can find really unique items on YESSTYLE.

But what has been making me hesitate so much to buy from YS?

Well,

1) Look at the last picture. If you can't see it close enough, go to Yesstyle.com and click on any shoe being sold. Then, look for a very up-close picture of that shoe. You will most likely see a lot of sloppy stitching, dried-up glue, and overall poor quality. The point I am trying to make here is the BAD QUALITY issues I have with the site. I've seen this most often with their shoes, but a couple of times, I've seen a really bad job on a peice of clothing. Some of the material also seems very thin or cheap. I don't know if these are just bad pictures, or if I am just very nitpicky. But this is one of the main reasons I have not bought anything from Yesstyle. I'm very concerned about the quality of the things they sell. And actually, I wouldn't even care so much about the  poor quality if it weren't for reason #2.

2) HIGH PRICES. Yesstyle sells most of their items at high prices. I'm not talking 500$ for a bag or anything. I mean that a simple screen-printed t-shirt that may or may not be of good quality would not be uncommonly sold for $25+. Still, this seems reasonable. After all, concert t-shirts are $15-20, right? Another pair of shoes found on the site costs about $64. Furthermore, this pair of shoes looks as if the stitching and gluing were done by someone's 4-year-old brother.
An over sized cotton pullover dress sold at YS.com costs almost $70.
Here is the link-

Does that look like it's worth $70 to you? I could go on and on.
I would gladly pay those prices for those items if I could see that they were of good quality. But I don't!

3) The site is confusing! First of all, I can't open the site using Firefox. I don't know if this is a problem for anyone else, but it's very annoying for me to have to open this ONE site with IE. I hate IE! The site is also only partially organized, and I'm always clicking on one category but seeing another listed there. In other words, I'm frequently finding hats in the blouses section, shoes in the skirts section, etc. The site also takes forever to load to the next page, maybe because there are so many listed items? Lastly, although I know it probably can't be helped, it is overwhelming to browse Yesstyle. Each category has 100+ pages to look through, and while the huge selection is a reason I like YS, it is rather hard to keep a good spirit for online shopping when there are so many choices in just ONE category.

So..my main questions, after all of this rambling, ARE:

- Have you ever ordered and received anything from Yessyle.com?

- If so, how was the experience, and most importantly, how was the quality of what you ordered?

- What are your peeves about the site? What do you hate about it and why?

- Why do you like the site?

- Do you think the prices are fair?

I really want to love Yesstyle. I was drawn to the site in the first place because of it's Korean-style fashion and clothing. I love the way Korean girls dress, I really do. Yesstyle is the first site I've found ready to ship to the US with this kind of style available. But the negative points I've made about the whole place kind of outweigh the good, in my opinion.
Hopefully some of you can change my mind!

Is Yesstyle a GEM, or a complete RIP OFF?

  • I think that site has a lot of really cute clothing on it BUT their site navigation SUCKS and I fear the quality of the items they sell might be below par. I guess the only true way to find out if the stuff is any good would be to order a few things from them. I’m also curious to know if anyone out there has ordered anything from them and how they feel about the quality of said items. Report Spam Posted by hophead at 10:10 AM on 11/17/08

  • ^ I totally agree with you. I'm thinking about buying a few small things, just to see how the quality is. When I get my order, I'll let you know! It's so frustrating to look around on a site like that, because all of the clothes are ADORABLE. But I don't want to spend 70 dollars on an adorable, but cheaply made item, you know?Anyway, thanks for reading! Report Spam Posted by okesuna at 11:04 AM on 11/17/08

  • Wow... long blog post! I found this when I searched for yesstyle here in kaboodle and surprisingly enough I have some answers for you. I guess my experience with yesstyle was quite nice. First of all for new websites, I don't try to buy something super expensive. So I just bought a pair of flats on sale, a top from a brand called Click, and a couple of other tops. When I received my package it was packed and wrapped professionally. For quality - I wore the flats casually often enough and even brought it on a visit to Minneapolis and NYC because they are very comfy to walk around with. To my surprise I saw the same style at Saks Fifth. I tried on the pair at Saks Fifth Avenue, but the comfort is just not the same! I was laughing because the yesstyle flat is unbelievably way more comfy than the Saks one rather than the other way around.I've also worn the tops several times and they are decent and I honestly feel I've paid a fair amount for them.I like the site just because they have so many things! And they give me lots of ideas just through the pics of their products =)By the way, I used both Firefox and IE on my computer and I have no problems viewing yesstyle.
