Happy one-day-late Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you guys had a whole day filled with hugs, kisses, flowers, chocolates and more!

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I spent last weekend on a DIY project inspired by this top I saw on ModCloth. I wasn't too fond of the idea that the ModCloth top is so cropped, so I took one of my favorite basic shirts and created my own. Here's how I did it (I wish I had pictures to show, but hopefully my words will do):

1. Print out a heart-shape template (whatever size you want your heart to be)
2. Cut a long piece of fabric in the color you want and one that won't fray (I used jersey)
3. Fold the strip of fabric so you have 2-4 layers (I chose 4 for more fringe) and sew it all the way down on one edge
4. Cut little slits all the way down to create fringe
5. Pin the fabric around the heart template
6. Sew the heart onto your shirt!

It's a little late to wear your shirt for Valentine's Day, but who says you can't wear hearts anytime of the year! Happy crafting :)
