Have you ever said to yourself when reading a fashion magazine that you wish you could look like the women on the cover or in the issue? It's okay - many of us have.

The truth is less than 10% of the models or celebrities featured in the magazine actually look like that. Their photos go through air brushing and retouching to make themselves look near perfect.

So how come they don't make a magazine without editing imperfections of these women? It sure would make us feel a lot better about ourselves and we would stop stressing out about trying to look perfect all the time. Wouldn't you like to read a magazine featuring women as they are rather than fake? We would feel more comfortable in our own skin and live in a world of confidence rather than self-consciousness and trying to be someone we're not.

What about the message this is sending to young girls? More and more tweens these days are reading magazines seeing what they are supposed to look like. They, especially, don't know any better to whether or not the women go through editing or not - and to think that they are going to grow up brainwashed to wanting to look perfect is a scary thought. What is the media doing to young America?

Before it gets any worse, a new and appealing magazine needs to go out on newsstands to show girls that it's okay to have a pimple or two and to make women feel comfortable in their own skin.
