Check out this Indian Bidri vase, 'Genie Jar'

Bidri vase, 'Genie Jar'

This vase takes my breath away.  According to the item description:

"The elegance of this shenai-shaped vase (an Indian musical instrument) is enhanced by the elaborate silver inlay known as bidri, from its origins in Bidar. This elegant inlaid work was used to decorate the weapons of the mighty Mughal emperors. Persian merchants introduced the art of inlay and engraving, which was then modified by local craftsmen to create a beautiful art unique to India."

The problem is, if I had one of these beauties I would be afraid to put it out for fear that someone (read: clumsy me) would accidently bump into it sending it flying across the room only to shatter and find me crying over my loss.

Ok, so I digress.  I could seriously see this sitting out on my coffee table.  What a lovely conversation piece.  Wouldn't all my friends be jealous?  Aaaaaah.

~Cheers!
