Kaboodle Etiquette

May 24, 2009
Hey everyone. I usually do a post about products or seasons or something else interesting but there is an issue that has been bothering me lately and I just thought I should share some thoughts/opinions with you! Let me know what you think in the comment box.

So Kaboodle is a great thing. As is the internet. It lets you share your personal styles and opinions, and view other people's styles. But like the internet, Kaboodle has some downfalls. Kaboodle gives you the freedom of commenting on any item, blog post, style board or list as you please and some people feel the need to abuse this. There is absoluely no need to disrespect a person with complete disregard to the person's feelings or how this makes you look. Acting stuck-up or rude makes you come off as a person I personally would not want to have as a friend. If you don't like an item someone has added, then politely say that it isn't your style, or don't even comment at all! Never insult someone. Never fight with someone over silly little things. It is childlike and very disrespectful.

Another subject is Kaboodle's range of freedom allowed for use. You are free to add any item from any website to any list you want. Unless Kaboodle gets notified about something innapropriate it is on there for the world to see. And the world consists of young children! So many kids are on the internet these days, and to put something that should so ovbiously not be on Kaboodle, on there does NOT make sense to me. Keep those things private, or at least within reason. (Lingerie seems fine to me)

Basically what I am trying to say is that on Kaboodle, and on the internet everyone should respect others and think about who could be seeing what you put on here. Just take consideration before you act.

Thanks for listening to me rant guys! ♥

technically, we're reading your rant :] but yeah i totally agree with you. this site is a place for people to express their own personal style, not bash other peoples'

Great post :) I totally agree with it.

Very well put,I agree with you 100%

that is what i think an dni agree with you, isn't kaboodle about style and fashion and stuff?..............but the good news is that i don't see that much.....but sometimes i see GROOS styleboard that is unapproite

Definitely agree with you. Thanks for posting!

I agree compeletly!!
Great post!!

agreeeeeeed

I agree 100% :-)

i agree. so much drama on the kaboodle forum these days..

i agree like everybody else says :) ...people on kaboodle that give rude remarks and yell or cuss to other kaboodlers are just making themselves look bad!

Thanks for getting that out. Show people the same amount of respect online as you would give to those around you. As for inappropriate items/comments, people should "Flag" them if it that's serious, of course. It's good to try to work out problems as adults, but it also helps to report them when needed. That way, People over the site can take care of these dramas before situations gets really ridiculous.

i agree with you too!!

I agree. And I just want to say, I dont understand at all why people say something is downright ugly on another persons list. I mean to say your opinion on it is fine and why you dont like it for this and that reasons, but i have not liked a few things here on kaboodle, but i dont comment at all if i feel that way.
=]]]
Thanks for the post.

i agree! :D
awesome blog!

I totally agree! I hate when people say rude things about some piece of clothing I put on a list. I don't really know why people feel the need to put down my and others style. Even though I personally don't know them t still makes me feel bad about myself and my style when people say mean things D: Let's all be nice and friendly to each other :D I love making others happy and smile!!

Good...I'll work on being polite as I can. I like respect, so you're right. I'm a teen here, and I don't need to see anything inappropriate...it's just awkward.

I never see people leaving rude comments (but I also don't pay close attention) but I have seen people adding vibrators to their lists....GROSS, the world does not want to know that you bought that thing!

I haven't really seen any rude comments on Kaboodle thus far. I'm always impressed at how nice everyone is here. As far as adult items, I see no problem with adding them to lists, although perhaps it wouldn't be the kind of list to share with all kaboodle friends since not everyone is an adult. Still, the internet is a crazy place for children so parents should try to be comfortable talking to their kids about any weird things they run into online. I think most Kaboodle lists would be tame compared to some of the pop-up ads I've seen.
Another etiquette thing would be filling peoples inboxes. It drives me crazy when people hit reply all to messages that only is meant for one person, send me over five notifications in one day or send me the same notifications multiple times over the space of a few weeks.

wow. this is good for everyone to read. but i took an ettiquete class last year. all that stuff is complicated, but its worth it.

I agreed with U. great post. =)

I agree with you 100% !

Excellent blog.....thank you.

I agree! A lot of people forget that there are kids on the internet and that you should respect what other people post on this site.

Great post! =)

Two great points! I've seen very little disrespectful behaviour. Usually I'm the one that doesn't care for something, so I'm careful to provide constructive feedback that explains why I don't care for it, and make sure that it doesn't come across as personal -- I mean, I treat my friends here just like my non-Kaboodle friends. As for the things kids might see, I make it a point to keep not just my lists but the things I say to the PG level, or PG-13 at worst. It would be nice if there was a way to flag out own things like lists or blogazine posts as being potentially inappropriate for family environments (with kids) or work environments.

i havent seen anything rude at all! i dont even know what u are getting at.
