Vena Cava & Butter London's NYFW Nail Trend

Day one of New York Fashion Week for Fall 2011, and I'm chasing down live streams of as many fashion shows as I can [see Twitter for live tweets].

While I was waiting patiently for the Vena Cava fashion show somehow I clicked around and found that the Beauty Counter blog at style.com had already posted the Vena Cava backstage 411 for Fall 2011 Nail Trends fresh from Butter London's founder Nonie Creme.

When I first looked at the picture I thought, "Oh, rubber bands? 90's grunge, that's sorta cool." Then as I read on it gets even better - it's nail polish "finger bands"! Genius. Now I love this.

As many good nail polish brands are, Butter is 3-Free. Which means no nasty stuff - aka no formaldehyde, toluene, and phthalates go into the formula or on your nails/skin; making is totally safe to slather your self in Butter.

So how do you get the DIY look from the tents, while the look may only last about 24 hours according to Nonie, follow her simple advice for easy application:

"The trick to proper application is keeping minimal product on your brush and swiping acetone across desired areas before decorating."

  • I love that that 3-free nail polishes are more available than ever (the sad thing is that most people have no idea what that means or just don't care)-- thanks for mentioning it! I'm not sure I would wear nail polish on my skin, but thanks for sharing anyway! :) Report Spam Posted by bellitude at 4:49 PM on 02/15/11

  • That looks pretty cool. I like to use nail polish remover with acetone in it but I think it's pretty funny that it's recommended that you coat it on your skin before applying the safe polish. Report Spam Posted by alicatstrut at 7:16 AM on 02/20/11
