Munchies!!!

Apr 8, 2009
DORITOSĀ® Last Call...
Duncan Hines Dark...
Miller Chill
What a crazy evening I've had!  Tonight my husband and I enjoyed goofy fun and lots of junk food, and if felt awfully good to let loose.

We ate dinner at home and did some running, including a stop at Wal-Mart to buy my step-daughter's birthday gift.  We had to load it into his Jeep, which took some maneuvering, and in the meantime we couldn't help but notice --- the car next to us emitted the funky herbal stench associated with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Cheech & Chong.  Ten minutes of loading that gift equalled ten minutes of second-hand smoke and a possible contact buzz.  (Might I mention that I've never had first-hand smoke and don't ever plan to.)

While shopping I had started to crave something sweet, but we were already in line to pay.  By the time we got home and unloaded the vehicle, I was beyond ready for a late evening snack.  We had already had a late evening "snack" (second meal, really) of blue cheese and bacon Arby Roastburgers, so I didn't really want to eat anymore.  But my husband agreed that something deep inside him was crying out for munchies too.

We had been acting silly all evening, horsing around and being extra-playful.  I can't go into detail, but all I can say is that after the Wal-Mart incident - we got a little, uhm, frisky in the parking area at our apartment.  Then we proceeded to Kroger for some chocolate frosting I had been thinking about all evening.  By the time we left, we also had the jalepeno Doritos I posted (which are freakin' AWESOME, BTW) and some Miller Chill, as well as some toffee-apple danishes and a bag of Snyder of Berlin Butter and Chive Chips (also awesome).  Between our giggling/fumbling and choice of purchases at the grocery store, I'm sure the checkout girl assumed we were either high or just plain crazy.  But we didn't care.  We took our munchies home and proceeded to watch Smokey and the Bandit and giggle some more.

I'm the kind of girl who likes to plan nice dinners and date nights, but I must say - this has been the most fun and enjoyable evening I think I've ever spent with my husband.  Sometimes it's best to just let things happen!

We had a great time and discovered some new favorite munchies - particularly the Doritos.  I can't even tell you how much I love them!  We also discovered that our relationship gets more enjoyable with time, doing even the most mundane of things together.  Has anyone else had a recent pleasurable evening that was totally unexpected?  Or have you randomly run across a great new munchie that you've fallen for?  Or both?

Lol, that reminds me of a great story that might derail your post, my apologies.

When I was younger, my dad would take me to a lot of concerts, and we'd get lawn seating. When I was no older than 11 or 12, we were at a Tom Petty concert, and the smoke came out as the lights went down. Half way through the show, I was lying on the grass laughing at the stars... hahaha.

My dad brought me to the concession stands and I remember eating at least three orders of garlic fries, and 2 soft pretzels. lol.

As for munchies, I like cashews.

Those are the best times. My husband and I have known each other since right out of high school and were friends for almost 5 years before we dated (he had a crush on me, but I had to grow up). We are the best of friends and have been married 7 years and I feel like it's just getting better.
As for munchies, I love anything salty & chocolate or salsa and cream cheese.

Sounds like a blast. My husband and I always have the best time when it's the weekend and we don't have to work (like we usually do on weekends) and we go out with no agenda and just putter around.

Lol. :) Great way to start my morning! Sounds like SO much fun. I don't have anything like that to share, but my girlfriends and I do some goofy things that are just so much fun after. Nothing really earth shattering worthy of a post like yours, but fun things to look back on none the less. Thanks for the really great and fun post. :).

@ bro - That's hilarious! That damn Tom Petty - notorious for causing munchies everywhere he goes!

@ weslee - Too sweet! My hubby is 10 years older than me and said he used to drive by and stalk me when I was in kindergarten. Knowing him, it's probably true. ;-)

@ alicat - Us too. I love just letting things happen as they may; turns into good times and good memories.

@ LC - I'm sure you have all kinds of stories.... you just don't want us to know what kind of fun you've been having! ;-)

It's nice to hear that a married couple get along so well like giddy kids. Well, my Hubby likes to rearrange the living room furniture for surprise weekends. Two weeks ago I came home to the couch and loveseat being put together again to look like a bed. He had brought down blankets, comforter, and pillows from the bed upstairs and had a cooler of Miller Light at the head of the "Cofa" he calls it. We stayed up all night and watched Elizabeth with Cate Blanchette , the new James Bond movie (rental) , and American Graffiti. We snacked on Mike Sells Cheddar and Sour Cream Chips and ordered a 24" Taco Enchilada Pizza to last the weekend. Pearl had just had her spaying so we took off her cone and let her lay with us and our cat Pandora for about an hour or so earlier in the evening. We will be putting the "Cofa" together during the NFL Draft weekend and we'll be snacking on stuffed mushrooms and pigs in a blanket that are on my MMM Good Recipes list. Besides Miller light we'll be drinking Vodka and Cranberry, Vodka and OJ and Vodka and Tomato Juice. Our favs! We spend whole weekends in it until Sunday night when we have to go back to "the real world".

Awe, sweet story! I definitely agree that spontaneity and sillyness can make for great times!

Great post!

@ capri - That is sooo awesome! My hubby's days off got changed to Tu/Wed so we don't get to spend all weekend together, which sucks. But it sure is fun to do stuff like that and get in some great bonding time. Sounds like you know how to do it up right!

@ hophead - Thanks! Goooood times. :-)

Before Greg and I were first dating he used to drive me home from work (I worked in a candy store and he was security for the mall) after I had a run in with a creepy homeless guy with one shoe while waiting for the 9:30 bus (that is a horrible but funny story all on its own). We usually ended up sitting in his car for a couple hours looking at the stars and chatting.

Once we started dating, we decided to go play in the snow after we'd had a pretty good storm. I lived near an elementary school playground, so we walked over there and started doing your basic snow things - building snowmen, making snow angels, etc. I, for some reason, got it in my head that it would be fun to do a cartwheel. Yeah...I stuck one arm into the snow and before I had a chance to realize it, my head dunked down into the snow too! Greg still laughs at me for doing this any time it snows. We have oodles of times like that where we're just hanging out, cooking together, or watching moives/TV in our jammies. And, honestly, I usually prefer the low-key times over the "let's get dressed up and go out" times.

And, thanks...Now I'm wanting some of those doritos... : )

Sounds awesome and fun and cute. =)

@ gregsgal - You cracked me up! That sounds like something I would do. And those Doritos are HOT! They have jalepeno powder as one of the ingredients. Mmm!

@ lynnie - It was. :-)

I'm with you gregsgal on the Doritos. I was just thinking that about 5 minutes ago. This Slim Fast ain't getting it done today. I wish when I've fallen in the past there was snow to break my fall. I usually bang my head pretty good. Always on pavement. I'm not as smart as I used to be. Pri fall down go boom....

Lol! Great Post! But now I have the munchies and can't do anything about it. I agree those Doritos look amazing.

Oh lord, I could go for a Chipotle Burrito right now.

Everybody is making me hungry!!!!!!!! And I started it. Go figure!

I can't share my stories right now......but, oh yeah, I have them too. Thanks for sharing yours!....

LOL You sound like you are enjoying life! Good for you!!!!

Aww I love this! It's so great that your Marriage is fun! It seems that today people look at marriage as a stuffy, boring thing when really, it can be amazing. Thanks so much for proving it! I'll have to sample those Doritos soon...-^_^-

Heck with the Doritos already. I want a Miller Chill...or three. :)
