To Blog, or Not To Blog
I am relatively new to Kaboodle, a member since May 2011, and have enjoyed creating lists, polls, and styleboards, and sharing information and ideas with other Kaboodlers. Today I asked myself, “Why haven’t I tried the blogazine feature? “ It didn’t take me long to come up with an answer. First, writing takes time. I don’t have a lot of spare time. Second, Kaboodle is all about shopping. I love to shop, but my shopping thoughts and experiences are usually pretty tame. I have never braved the wee hours of the morning on black Friday, never pulled aside a store manager to negotiate a great deal on a designer handbag, and definitely never asked a cute salesman at the sporting goods store to help me select a new bikini. I am fairly confident that I would be unable to transform a day of shopping into something worthy of writing about. Finally, although I am a well-educated person with my own opinions, I am by no means an expert at anything – not even shopping! With over 150 million public blogs in existence, why on earth would anyone take time to read this blogazine?
That’s a pretty convincing list of reasons to skip it. Is there any reason to try the blogazine? Well, I like to write. Good enough. I’ll try it.
I’m not sure what I will write about in future blogazine posts here on Kaboodle, but I do know that it will not become a personal diary or journal of any sort. I also suspect that this blogazine will not play a role in any breaking, shaking and spinning news stories. Nor will it morph into something that influences what the first lady is wearing to dinner tonight. My posts will probably be centered on environmentally friendly or otherwise socially responsible shopping since it is something that interests me. If any of my fellow Kaboodlers decide to follow my blogazine, I hope they will share their thoughts and help me develop it into something fun and informative.
I have decided to call my first blogazine Spree. Spree has a nice connection with shopping, and it has the added benefit of sounding a lot like my favorite word, free. Free, as in living in a free country, free to make our own choices, and free to express ourselves openly (buy one, get one free isn’t bad either).
Live free, shop green!
