Okay so I bought this dress thinking it would be easy to wear. I haven't worn it once! How would you wear it? It's one color so it needs something or it's just bland. Help!
I had considered knee high dark brown boots and some funky tights but I haven't found the right tights and I'm not sure about knee high boots with the sleeve length?
I had also considered a cool leather belt around the midsect, but with the band that's already on the dress I don't think the belt would look right and I think the band area would be too high for a belt....AH help me!
I have this same dress from Banana Republic in a maroon color. It's a challenge to accessorize for me, too, because I don't want to distract from the neckline. I think if you got a wide belt to align with the high waist area, it would look right. Match the belt to the shoes or boots color wise and you're good to go. I used a black and white scarf tied as a belt and then wore black and white heels, then put on slim bracelets (no necklace or earrings since I have long hair and didn't want to bump them with the dress's collar). I even entertained the though of a shiny chain-link belt going around the high waist band section. It's so shiny that it completely takes the focus off the high waist band.
If you think the dress's color is bland, go ahead and punch up the color with some earrings and stacked bracelets.
The dress deserves heels or boots, I couldn't get it to look good with my flats.
Hope this helps. I wrestled with accessorizing this dress for a party this weekend, and ended up going with a satin LBD instead (easier to accessorize, hands down).

a long gold necklace might also work...
