Top Shop has lost their marbles!

So, I'm tooling around topshop.com today and was appalled! yes, appalled!! Usually, I love their edgy European style and drool over their cute Boutique lines...but, sadly, today Top Shop has lost my respect.
#1- Please spend $170 to wear a sweater that my grandma bought from Goodwill 8 years ago.
#2- Please spend $210 to wear my dog's fur all over your PONCHO!
#3-This little number is $510...enough said.
Let me know what you guys think of these...I mean, $510 is almost my rent for a month, i just canNOT believe anybody would like these! I feel like designers are playing a joke on us hard-working citizens...*sigh*

I tend to agree but the thing is I really could see some people pulling these off if they are worn the right way.
Yeah, it's sad when a shop that you've liked goes weird like that.:( Makes you wonder, especially in times like these, what they are thinking... But hey, I'll trade you rent payments if you want... ;)
I like the first one, but the other two not so much. I couldn't imagine myself being able to pull them off, or wanting to wear them. The price on all of them are insane though.
That thing is less than a third of my rent, but I probably still wouldn't wear it. I could see it being cute on someone very tall and lanky, though.
The other two are, in my opinion, hideous.
Ha I was in H&M and they have all these geeky disney and garfield sweaters for sale. Me and my friend were like "really!? I could get this at goodwill for 99 cents!" I think they are trying to hop on the whole "horrible holiday sweaters are funny" trend
haha i think they are only funny if they are actually from goodwill...yeah we pay $600/month but thats why i live in ohio! its cheap here and we've got a nice 2 bedroom. the prices on these are what makes them so bad, i think!
The last one is from a collaboration between Topshop and a rather highly regarded designer, Simone Shailes, who is widely esteemed for her wildly texturized knitted pieces. I would definitely say the particular pieces you posted are more avant-garde and high fashion. There actually are a lot of people out there who like to experiment with a more couture and up and becoming looks over safe and reliable pieces. I think it is great they offer a wide array of styles because not everyone is into the same looks. Their prices seem high, but they are of high quality and much MUCH cheaper than most designer goods. Having said that, I personally wouldn’t wear anything you posted but I can think of many popular girls out there in the fashion blogger world who would…and would look great. I always try to remind myself that everyone’s uniqueness of style and personality only helps make the world more colorful and fun. :)
Haha these are funny. I ecspecially love that awesome panda bear sweater.
Oops, I meant polar bear.
ugh, i agree these are terrible
I LOVE THE SWEATERA ESPCIALLY THE BLACK 1 AT THE MIDDLE
omg rip off, that is bad
Ewwww! What up with this stuff!? The last one isn't....well, out of all of them, it's the one I would wear first but EW! MAN! Yuck!
I still like the sweater on the right. I'd totally rock it. Heh.
The puppy sweater just makes me think of Bret from Flight of the Conchords.
O.K. the first is cute, I would wear it buming around but would not pay $170.00 for it! I have no words to even describe the other 2 designs?? Just because you can make something doesn't mean you SHOULD!!!
Hophead took the words right out of my mouth :) It's important to remember that design comes with a certain amount of experimentation, and if you don't buy the pieces, so worry, someone else (with money) will xD
I could see someone rocking the last piece
Who knew grandma was ahead of her time? ;-)
intreresting.
i wish i could get a two bedroom for 600.... i pay 1600 for a one bedroom. and those clothes are butt ugly no matter what adjectives you use to describe them.
I guess I could also see someone rocking the last piece, but at $510 do you really want to spend that kind of money only to work so hard to look good?
i would wear the shit out of that polar bear sweater. i'm not sure if you saw the polar bear on it. THERE IS A POLAR BEAR ON THAT SWEATER. ON THAT SWEATER THERE IS A POLAR BEAR.
If that were a polar bear with a native american and a moon on it then I would be a little suspicious.
The middle one is disgusting, enough said and the 510.00$ one is 510.00$ because of the construction of it. Sure, it's not an everyday jacket but the tailoring in that is detailed to the max.
I can see why someone wouldn't like these, and I don't think I would be particulary drawn to them if I was them in a stor either, but high fashion is a little ridiculous sometimes and we just have to learn to see the art in it
but I think I would wear
I'm pretty good at wearing and pulling off some pretty ugly clothes
:]
EW! those are freaken HIDEOUS!
I really really like the left jumper and I'm strangely attracted to the one on the right, to look at anyay, not sure i would wear it. However the prices are a pure joke. I'm heading into topshop tomorrow and I will see if they are as dear here or if the prices are inflated for the US?
You are soooo funny! When I visited their link for the giveaway, the first thing I did was roll my eyes and then I left the page in a hurry! I mean YIKES, not only the prices are ridiculous but the clothes are absolutely repulsive!
good post!
basically all of them!
