Some of you may have seen my Glee fashion list for the past couple seasons where I would add items that were very similar to what the various characters sense of style, or sometimes even the exact items.

As I was browsing around some of the usual online stores for the show's wardrobe (Anthropology, Kate Spade, Urban Outfitters, and Forever 21 are big ones), over the summer and this beginning of fall fashion season, I started adding some items that i thought we might see in the new season coming this September 20th.  however, after seeing the release of some various promos, and reading up about season 3, it totally changed my ideas on what some of the characters might wear.

Looks like Quinn's character might make a big fashion change to a more edgy, punk-ish style. It might just be for a particular number, or it might be for the whole season.  Also, according to The Possessionista, who has an in with the wardrobe dept. for Glee, it sounds like Rachel is going to have a more 60s Mod style this season - a "Marlowe Thomas That Girl" vibe.  I am less excited for that.  I kinda liked her school girl with a twist look, and was personally never a huge fan of 60s Mod.  This may also mean she ends up wearing a lot of vintage, too, such as the green dress seen above, meaning no more snagging some of her fun and funky wardrobe items for ourselves!

One thing I would like to see is more pants/jeans.  Seriously, who wears skirts and dresses every day to school?  I don't think Rachel or Quinn wore pants. EVER.  I wouldn't mind a little more realistic wardrobe for high schoolers. Also, a guidance counselors who's entire closet consists of Anthro and Kate Spade? Seriously, with the amount she needs to budget in for antiseptics and rubber gloves, could she afford that much Anthro and Kate Spade? (Honestly, I'm just jealous cuz I can't afford any of her awesome outfits).

Are you excited for the new season?  What do you think about some of these shifts in wardrobe? Anything you'd like to see done different style-wise - or even plot-wise?

And keep an eye on my Glee-k out list for finds on the fashions of the upcoming season, and check out The Possessionista - she finds a lot of the stuff I can't, as well as fashions from other shows like The Bachelor, Pretty Little Liars, and more.

  • Haha, I like your assessment of Emma's budget. I thought everything Rachel wore so far was cute except that thing she wore at the drunk party at her house. Report Spam Posted by alicatstrut at 1:14 PM on 09/06/11

  • yes more pants! that green dress is super cute though Report Spam Posted by sweetshorty at 1:14 PM on 09/06/11

  • Sorry, hit send too soon. Wanted to also say: But the clothes aren't as much the point of this show (for me) as, say, they are on Gossip Girl. I miss the really offbeat way that songs were integrated into random places in the plot and furthered it directly. I'd like to see a return to that. I think the show is trying to do too much by being both (theoretically) teen friendly and cultish. Also, I think they should get new writers who don't suck. I say all of this as a fan of the show. • I love Emma's clothes, but yeah, not sure how a school counselor could afford that. Report Spam Posted by lynnie482 at 2:56 PM on 09/06/11

  • haha LOVE the post...Glee is fabulous and although you are not excited for the Rachel mod look...I am thrilled...honestly, I was getting tired of her off the wall print cardigans--while original...completely unrealistic. Report Spam Posted by ladyluck12 at 11:33 PM on 09/11/11

  • I always love seeing what Emma's wearing. And yes, she seems to have the best counseling job ever...I can't afford any of her awesome outfits either. :( Report Spam Posted by gregsgal at 8:21 PM on 10/06/11
