Thick heels? Good or bad?

Glittered Chunky-Heel...
ASOS PELICAN Platform...
Elizabeth and James
Okay, I've been seeing a lot of these super chunky shoes with the thick heels lately.

I think they are hideous. I read a designer saying that they are better for the feet because of the support, which makes complete sense, but I just can't get over how they look.

And most of them are brightly, multi-colored shoes like the one in the middle.

What do you think? Am I being too critical? Anyone have some shoes like this? Want them?

I haven't seen any pictures of people wearing them- only pictures of the shoes alone- so perhaps I'm judging too quickly. We'll have to see if this new "trend" really takes off. I've noticed it more and more from newer designer collections (though they might have been around longer and I just haven't picked up on that) and I'm seeing them all over the place now.

I just now remembered 70's style platforms and how cool they used to be. I tried wearing them once and I just fell. LOL

  • These remind me of the late '60s early '70s. Kind of Brady Bunch. I personally don't like them. If you notice lately stores are carrying clothing lines that are '70s and '80s. At least I've noticed, since I've been through those decades :) Report Spam Posted by luv2kreate at 2:20 PM on 01/29/12

  • More comfortable than thin heels though... Report Spam Posted by lbuben1 at 3:23 PM on 01/29/12

  • the thicker heel is more comfortable. They look very 90's, (the re-up of the 60's style.) it would be funny to see a re-up of a re-up. Report Spam Posted by doubleletterlady at 8:34 PM on 01/30/12

  • I agree with you, ick. These are the shoes that riddle the thrift store shoe section [as @doubleletterlady said, the 90's, which originally came from the 60's] A better way IMHO to do a chunkier heel for better comfort is a wedge, or haha....a flat! jk. • The y would seem to me to be more comfortable because they would give more support than the thinner heels and I though I can't wear heels that what I think they would anyway and thank you for sharing <3 Love, Linda Report Spam Posted by hawklns1 at 10:14 PM on 02/05/12

  • I completely agree- go to wedges if you want thicker heel support! Report Spam Posted by socalsurfista at 9:18 AM on 02/06/12
