It was a rather close one between the two! I l really like them both, but not going to buy him two! He's spoiled as it is!

So, I've decided to go with the Abashiri Floor Lamp. He's got cherry red walls  with black Japanese calligraphy running down the edges of the walls. He's also got loads of bamboo plants and a bonsai tree, to kick off the overall decor.I think this lamp will suit the setup and decor of his new place. Plus, the styling of this particular lamp is a bit more versatile and flexible.

He likes to have groups of people over on weekends and I can just imagine the other lamp being knocked over.
