HUGE Rings: Update

HUGE RINGS are amazing, in my opinion. Especially if they are not over the top in any other way, simply attractive but fun. I wouldn't like to wear something so outlandish everyone stared at me the second I walked into the room. I wouldn't like to wear something requiring me to maneuver around people or things. Still, something different and pretty always appeals to me.

In April 2010 I happened to see this awesome ring. After a bit of hunting, I found the one I had seen and a bunch of others on Etsy. These are made by a woman who lives in Australia. Last year I did a blog on the rings and made a prediction they would become a trend.

Recently I went looking for the ring again, because I definitely have seen a trend in larger two and three finger rings this year. I have not seen any of this type,  but I still believe this will be a huge trend. The designer has sold nearly 1,000 since she first started making them in 2009. She has added many more choices over the past year.

I asked her about weight and convenience in using your fingers while wearing one of her rings, since that was something many Kaboodlers mentioned as a concern. She assured me those factors were addressed when she first designed the rings. Her rings are worn on the middle finger.  They do weigh a little more, but each ring is ergonomically designed so the weight is balanced and actually spread across all four fingers. Since it is worn on only one finger it doesn't interfere with the way you use your hand or your fingers.

These rings are my favorite because they are attractive, unique and very affordable. That's my update, now I'd like to hear back from those of you who saw last year's blog. I'd love to hear comments from anyone who hasn't seen these rings before too. So, let me know what you think!

  • FYI: If you'd like to see more of these type of rings in other designs, I have them on my list "Ring Bling". Smiles, Pat Report Spam Posted by paws72 at 9:17 AM on 08/17/11

  • Nice! Report Spam Posted by baybe at 9:30 AM on 08/17/11

  • I've never seen rings so huge in my life! They are very decorative and look good with some matching nail polish. They are kind of like bracelets. But, no, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them. I've never been married so I have something against rings, personally! Report Spam Posted by nance60 at 9:38 AM on 08/17/11

  • Some of the shape rings seem so big that they don't even look like rings but I love the circle ring in the middle here. Very cool idea but it may take a while for it to catch on. Report Spam Posted by mollysaurus at 10:07 AM on 08/17/11

  • HUGE!! I like the idea but don't wear rings to work except for wedding/engagement as they slip too much. I just can't see these working for a job that involves a lot of filing or typing. I DO have a huge bangle that I bought for weekend only wear, I never get to wear it & would be worried about the same thing happening if i bought one of these rings. that said, i do like em. • Yes I have been seeing some larger rings here and there...the ones you are showcasing are even bigger than the ones I've seen though. It's neat that you contacted the Etsy seller to get info on how it impacts maneuverability. Good to know that she had that in mind when designing her products. • These rings are great! Recently while shopping for a new gold watch, I noticed the faces of watches are huge too... Must be a new trend! Love it! Report Spam Posted by bellabellastudio at 11:26 AM on 08/17/11

  • These are rather neat looking though I'm not sure I would wear one. I like the heart and sea shell ones. Report Spam Posted by crinaeae at 11:51 AM on 08/17/11

  • Yes glad to see you Pat! I like the orange ring the best, but it's really not for me. I think there is a niche out there though :) Report Spam Posted by luv2kreate at 3:12 PM on 08/17/11

  • The three that you chose to showcase in your blog are quite nice. They are definitely statement pieces without being to over the top. I'm not sure that I personally would be wearing one of these, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from wearing one Report Spam Posted by thelovehammers at 6:03 PM on 08/17/11

  • These rings are definitely good conversation pieces, but I agree with most of the other comments; I probably wouldn't wear one. Great blog topic! Report Spam Posted by margareto at 6:12 PM on 08/17/11

  • i love the last one huh Report Spam Posted by vanclofficial at 7:45 PM on 08/17/11

  • I'm not into huge rings, I find huge rings too huge. I mean lets face it huge rings are huge or some might even say humungous (I spelled that right in the first attempt, what a surprise). No, I prefer super-sized rings, but thanks for the heads up. Report Spam Posted by markblemish at 7:54 PM on 08/17/11

  • The heart-shaped one is beautiful, but I wouldn't wear it!!! Sorry!!! I wouldn't wear the other two either!!! I agree with the others, they are just waaaaayyyyyyy to big!!!!!!!! Report Spam Posted by susan_brown at 11:16 PM on 08/17/11

  • I like the heart ring Report Spam Posted by limila at 2:29 AM on 08/18/11

  • Love ya but they are very clumsy I have tried them and do not like them they catch on every thing and are bulky regardles of the weight. Never thought I would disagree with you please do not be mad Report Spam Posted by lissln at 10:23 AM on 08/18/11

  • Yikes these are HUGE! I think they look pretty cool, I'm wondering how comfortable they are... Report Spam Posted by justkate at 3:50 PM on 08/18/11

  • my fingers and hands are too small to deal with it, they are very artsy though, mmm maybe I might wear one that has VanGogh's starry night. Report Spam Posted by julieakeman at 4:42 PM on 08/18/11

  • these are fun! I like Report Spam Posted by greentea_ at 8:39 AM on 08/20/11

  • I love the looks of these rings even though my fingers are small and thank you for sharing, Pat <3 Love, Linda Report Spam Posted by hawklns1 at 1:57 PM on 08/22/11

  • I think these are very bold! I love oversized rings but I can't imagine myself wearing these - they'd possibly get in the way a bit too much. Report Spam Posted by x0xsharicex0x at 8:25 AM on 08/26/11

  • Very nice!!! : } Report Spam Posted by kelsjax at 2:37 PM on 08/27/11

  • cute!!! Report Spam Posted by ellie989 at 8:25 AM on 08/31/11

  • Thank you for all your comments. The artist has quite a collection of these rings now and her sales are regular and climbing. I have even seen a couple of copycat rings around...you could tell they didn't have the quality though. I'll do another update in 2012! Report Spam Posted by paws72 at 11:35 PM on 09/26/11
