Why these candles?
I'm so glad you asked! To ensure that fellow humans are able to earn a fair living wage in a local context. Like their candles, the atmosphere in the workshop is lively. There is singing, music, laughter, chatter and the joy is evident on the faces below. We design and create color, stripes, spirals, squiggles and whirls to bring you the rich and colorful art of Africa. These are her people.
Meet Beauty! (pictured above)
I am Beauty Ndlovu, aged 26 years. Sphiliswe is my african name and means opportunity to living. I came from Zimbabwe. I am married with two boys aged seven and four, who I love very much. My mother still lives in Zimbabwe, she is 70 years old. My father passed away in 2006. I love listening to all the stories that the staff tell us, they are funny and make us happy and laugh a lot. It makes coming to work good cos we are happy. I’ve been working for Inspirations of Africa for almost five years, designing and painting candles. My boss thinks I am very talented and really likes my designs. I’m always late but she doesn’t shout anymore.
Meet Gift Ndiweni (Pictured Above)
My name is Gift Ndiweni. I’m 22 years old. from Zimbabwe. I come to South Africa in 2004, after I finished grade 12. I used to help my mother at home with the cooking and cleaning. Before I used to paint houses until I started at African Inspirations, where I am for the last two years. When I was a small boy I used to play with girls. In our company We always happy, that's why I stay here.
