SU Idol 11/7/11

On Nov 11 2011 I competed in Syracuse University's version of American Idol and competed for the #1 singer in the school, (and I made it to the Top 10!) and I looked FABULOUS doing it! You can watch my performance here: http://vimeo.com/31769673
Dress
My Dress was a simple nude silk with a sheer cover, "V" neckline, and flattering waistline pulls, from The Gap ($69.99 - but got it on sale for $20!) Nude is very in right now! Everything from the dresses to nail polish is trending.
TIP: If you're looking to add a step of High Fashion to any look try painting your nails that skin tone color. It's a small step for those who might not be comfortable taking fashion risks.
Shoes
Also from The Gap ($65), they're a combination of suede and cork, the suede being the strappy part of the sandal, and the cork is the wedge heel. The are so beautiful, and I wear them all the time. The are so comfy (even if they are about 5 in)!
Hair
I straightened my hair with my roommates CHI straightener and put Aussie Frizz Free spray in so my precious locks wouldn't fry in the heat! Middle part which is a switch up for me because I usually do the side part.
TIP: It's actually very good to switch up the part once in a while because it keeps your scalp healthy! If you're to nervous about trying a middle part (lord knows I was) try it when you go to the gym when people don't really care what anyone looks like, and it might grow on you like it did for me!
Makeup
Eyes
I used Maybelline New York Eye Studio in Give me me gold. I swept the lightest shade from my lash line to underneath my brow, and then I just mixed the other colors together on my lid. I don't really have a system for eye make up, I know people tell you exactly how to do it, but my makeup basically looks the same every time i do it, but I do it differently every time so I really don't know how to explain it lol! But I do know that I made my look more dramatic with liquid eyeliner on the top lid. a swift sweep across the lid with NYC Liquid Eyeliner, helped amp up my look. Then a little Lash Stiletto Mascara to give me a polished look was all it took.
Bronzer
I used a big soft brush to apply my wet&wild MegaBronze bronzer on my cheeks, it gave a great look from the stage!
Nail Polish
I used a Brick Red color for my nails by Revlon (it was from their Quick Dry Collection, but I'm not sure of the actual name).
Accessories
A simple jade colored jewel necklace from Forever 21, ($4.80) my roommate's enamel bracelet (Thanks Katie!), and my fake pearl earrings ($7.00 Target) were the only accessories I really wore, nothing to over the top! I wanted them to focus on my singing! LOL
Thanks for reading everyone!
