(01/21/12) I got these boots in black, and they looked great when they arrived. The leather was soft and supple and the gold hardware was a great touch. However, I am usually between and 8 1/2 and a 9, depending on the brand, and I bought these in a 9 and they are really roomy. I kept them anyways since at the time the 8 was sold out, but if I had to buy again, I would say go down a half size from you usual. Also, after wearing them a few times, the leather that meets the sole of the boot started to peel away, and I had to attempt to glue it down. Not so happy about that, it seems as if the leather wasn't fastened down in any way, so it is inevitable that it will start to warp away from the boot. Other than that though, I don't have any complaints, I love the boots and wear them any time I want to infuse my outfit with a bit of motorcycle-mama chic.See less

I'm 5'6", 125lbs and I have 14.25" calves at the widest point and these boots fit me perfectly with skinny jeans on-I would say that they are actually a 15" circumference as stated on other websites where they are sold, not 16" as stated here. They fit exactly true to size in my opinion (I normally wear 7.5 in shoes and 8 in boots and I ordered a 38) so I find it strange that there are such inconsistencies in the reviews. The leather is high quality, thick yet still soft and the zipper on the back adds a bit of edge to these classic boots. They fit very much like the picture but closer to my calf. I went with the black because I tried on the brown in person and while I do like them better on then on the shelf, the contrast in color between the bottom and top of the boot is still a bit drastic for me and the lines of the "distressing" on the brown boot look very man-made.
